Yeah, he'd need more than a little help hooking himself up to it!

And if you're to the point where you need a ventilator, you're not going to be doing self-care.  You'll need a qualified medical professional there to take care of you.

We are going out just after dawn for our walk and it is lovely!  We have had a wander round the lake and fed swans and ducks and then headed for the park to see the spring flowers.  The air is quite fresh and it is quite quiet.  And I feel quite smug because I have actually gone for a walk!  Keep safe everyone.

My printer is broken and I'm getting parts today.  I think someone else locally managed to print a few to give to the GP that contacted me.  I'm gobsmacked that GPs are begging from homemade visors online and we haven't even started the real crunch time.  I'm hoping that when all this is over everyone will realise how Tory austerity killed people and how them responsible.

I found an online bakery that was still delivering gluten free bread, AND they don't use the ingredient I'm allergic to. I ordered a cinnamon raisin loaf and tomorrow morning I'm making delicious French toast for the first time in a year. And my husband was ecstatic to have bread with lunch again.

I took the opportunity to experiment even more with my hair. So I had Stuart shave it at a #6. I bleached it and dyed it dark silver.

I can't wait to see the actual colour in the light tomorrow.

And here is my young twin with her buzz, which inspired me to do mine.

Love it Tami... maybe I'll try that!  One of the reasons I shaved it to number 2 last summer was because it was so wild and damaged from years of bleaching it... and once I did that, I vowed I would never colour/bleach it again.  I keep it at number 4 now, as that seems to be the length I like best.  Keeping it short means it's healthier, so I probably could get away with bleaching it again, as I could always shave off the bleached bit at my next haircut.  With the barber shops shut, I think I need to order some clippers so Howard and I can do each other's hair!

Did you manage to get strong flour?  That seems to be the thing everyone wants.

By the way, I had three people come and collect sourdough starter from me today.  I've got so much of the stuff and it makes really good bread.

I had some in the house. I tend to use more "plain" flour, or wholemeal bread flour. But I also got some self-rising (for biscuits). Strong flour is probably the best for plain white bread, but I also have a bag of gluten (that I had sent over from the States some time ago) that I can add to regular flour if I want a stronger dough. (You can make bread with plain flour, it's just not as chewy.)

I found I still had quite a bit of yeast, although the brand is pretty anemic. If we start running low I'll start a yeast mother in a jar that I had bought to do pickling in.

It's a small thing, but as of today, our monthly WiFi allowance has been upped from 12 GB to 21.6 GB to help with communication back home and potential self-isolation during the coronavirus (the military were able to negotiate 50% more data for us, plus the internet company is giving everyone on the island 20% extra data for free in April and May too) :).

That's really nice though! Small things matter right now.

Normally my husband makes the coffee, but the machine is in my part of the house.  Domo has stepped up, though.  He's got quite good at it.

Is the base still corona-free?

It is.

Everyone is out of isolation (tests were done on 2 people with cold-like symptoms and they came back negative) and we haven’t had anyone arrive on the island since March 17th.

The US plane came in freight-only yesterday and there are a maximum of 12 people arriving from the UK later today, but they are being taken straight into 14-day isolation. The next flight is on April 14th... not sure if there will be any passengers on it or not.

So fingers crossed we can stay virus-free for a while.

I really hope it doesn't reach you there, ksand!  How are medical facilities, should it come to that?  Is it going to be a problem there?
