Urgent Guidance: Biometrics Cancelled
« on: March 20, 2020, 10:54:28 AM »
Hi everyone, I’ve just come to Newcastle for my check and upload Biometrics appointment. They told me NOW that it was cancelled and all shut down and rescheduled for 01/05 which is after my permit runs out on 10/04. Please advise!! Who do I call?!

Sorry to hear that.

You don't need to do anything except wait until May 1st for your biometrics appointment.

As long as you have submitted your online application before your visa expires, your current immigration status and right to work will be extended automatically under 3C Leave until your visa has been processed.

So, it doesn't matter when you attend your biometrics appointment, as long as you applied online before April 10th.

See here for more information about 3C Leave:

I'm sorry they didn't let you know sooner, that was a shame. But as ksand explained, from the point of view of your visa, there is nothing at all to worry about.

Thank you so much! Was panicking on the street trying to get through to someone. Really appreciate the swift answers and advice. KSAND24 you’re literally an angel. Thanks! Back to self isolation for me.

If my Biometric appoint is for document checking + scanning, should I bother trying to upload myself or just wait it out?

It’s really up to you.

We don’t know how things will play out with biometrics and visas in the coming weeks and months, so it might be worth scanning everything to your computer just in case, then it can be uploaded if needed (or you could upload it anyway if you wanted).
