Hiya,

So this Sunday, I'll be applying for my FLR(M)2. With all of the UKVAS centres closed and no biometric appointments available until after the crisis, will everyone be required to scan in all of their documents from home at the time of application?

I had planned on using the document checking and scanning services at the centre during my appointment, so this is a bit of a worry for me. I have all of my documents; I just fear something will fail to scan, or something will be overlooked.

Thanks!

No, I think you just have to wait until you can book an appointment, and then purchase the scanning service at that time.

The only thing you have to do now is make sure you submit your online application before your visa expires. After that, it’s just a case of waiting until you are able to book an appointment.

The government will also extend your current visa to May 31st 2020 if you need it. See: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-uk-visa-applicants-and-temporary-uk-residents

Thanks for the link. My visa expires on 3/5. Should I request the extension? I hadn't thought it necessary, since submitting your application basically preserves your current status until your application is processed and a decision is made, right?

Thanks.

Yeah, so as long as you submit before your visa expires, it won’t matter.

The extension provision is there to help people who find themselves stuck without enough time to apply before their visa expires.

Yes, valid, in time applications are covered under 3C of the Immigration Act 1971, if their visa expires while UKVI are making a decision.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/3c-and-3d-leave

And from Ksand's link.

"You’ll need to meet the same visa requirements and pay the UK application fee.

This includes those whose leave has already been automatically extended to 31 March 2020.

You can apply online. The terms of your leave will remain the same until your application is decided.

UK Visa and Citizenship Application Centres (UKVCAS) and Service and Support Centres (SSCs) are temporarily closed because of coronavirus (COVID-19).

You cannot book an appointment."

My FLR(M) is coming up as well. I share your nerves, OP! My BRP expires 8/5.
Do we have any idea on what this will mean for our Right to Work permits? I've read the above advice, but I'm not sure if the visa extension / delayed biometrics would extend to this.
-Non-priority spousal visa & son's settlement visa-
Date of visa application: 26 April (27 April GMT) 2017
Visas received: 3 August 2017
-FLR(M) -
Date of visa application: 7 April 2020
Date of IDV app invite: 7 September 2020
Date of IDV completion: 14 September 2020
Additional document email: 7 December 2020
Application result email: 9 December 2020
BRPs received: 14 December 2020

You will be protected under the C3 leave that Sirius linked to and will not be disadvantaged any further due to CV. The government is making allowances across the board.
Just make sure you make your application before your BRP expires.

Nothing more to add advice-wise, but just popping in to say you're not alone!

I applied all the way back in February and had an appointment booked in late March (more than one month later) because that was the earliest one I could get. They instituted lockdown two days before my appointment, which they cancelled and reallocated for May. So I've been in limbo ever since, and I can promise you it hasn't mattered! My landlord requested the info to check my application is indeed filed so we could renew our lease, and my Uni checked it as well. My employer so far hasn't asked--though presumably because I asked HR to provide various documents for my application that was sufficient for them plus moving a massive company to remote working has probably been something of a distraction.

In early March my DH and DD went to visit family all day on a Saturday so I'd have time to scan and upload everything uninterrupted. ...Had I only known we'd be in lockdown I probably wouldn't have wasted a day staying home!!

My wife's FLR is due in August and as part of it she needs to do the CEFR A2 English test. Right now, I don't think any English tests are happening. Certainly IELTS is suspended until further notice.

I would continue to prepare as normal for when it's time to apply. Your wife won't be penalised, they are adapting to the circumstances.  I imagine they will either waive the requirement or processing will be delayed until such time as the test can be taken.

Any idea how we can be notified when the BIometric centers will be open again? Or is it just a case of looking at the uk govt website every so often

The UKVCAS website says the following:

The suspension means that currently:

- All our UKVCAS Service points are closed
- We are unable to accept any new appointments
- You are not able to reschedule future appointments at this time

This will remain under review with UKVI as the situation evolves and we will keep you informed via this website as to when bookings and services reopen.

While ielts.org is still saying that English UKVI tests are suspended until further notice, I was able to book a test with the British Council in London for the end of July when that is the start of their earliest A2 exam.

Our exam was set for this Saturday and we now got an email to say it's cancelled due to 'government restrictions on laege venues and gatherings on the date and venue that you have booked". Since we were in email contact with the British Council on this very scenario I'm fuming and deeply upset. We only have until 24 August to get the A2 test. I think I will have to see if it can be done in another country and get my wife to fly there.
