ILR approved but haven't received my BRP due to COVID19
« on: March 31, 2020, 04:21:30 PM »
Hi all,
I know this is a weird time/situation, and so even the experts here may not have advice.

I received my SET(M) approval email on 10 March, and my letter is dated the same day. However, I haven't received my new BRP - I assume due to the shut down of non-essential services basically days after my approval. After 10 days, as the letter instructs, I submitted the "Your BRP hasn't arrived" form through the gov.uk site.

Do I also need to contact the Coronavirus Immigration team, do you think? I'm not sure if my FLR(M) officially "expired" when my SET(M) was approved? My current BRP is valid through 20/05/2020.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if I need to be worried since my new BRP hasn't arrived and the letter I received states that my current BRP is no longer valid because it has been superseded by a further grant.

Your FLR(M) was cancelled the day your ILR was approved, but you do have a valid visa: your ILR.

It's just that you don't physically have the BRP in hand yet.

However, your visa has been issued and you are now a permanent resident in the UK, so you do not need to contact the Coronavirus Immigration Team because there's nothing to tell them.

You've filled out the form for a missing BRP, so all you need to do now is wait for your BRP to arrive.

If anyone questions your immigration status, just show them your ILR approval letter and tell them you are waiting for your BRP.

Thank you! Everything you've said makes sense in a way that I couldn't formulate myself.

I will just keep the email/letter close to hand. It's such a weird time right now. Stay safe and healthy, everyone.

I'm in the same boat. I received my letter granting FLR(M) dated 12 March 2020 and my BRP never came. I reported it missing last Thursday (26 March 2020) and still have no correspondence from UKVI. Their initial automated email reply says someone will be in contact within 5 working dates, which is today for me. Fingers crossed.

Guess I got a little lucky again. I had my paperwork scanned (and BRP) last Friday......missed having a signed declaration stating where my cash savings came from so I did that on Monday. BRP came this morning. It was supposed to be signed for, but someone just jammed it through the letterbox. The BRP runs out in 4 years, so that might just get me off my butt and do the citizenship routine in a couple of months when things calm down a bit.

Ah, yes, the BRP photocards are supposed to be valid for 10 years, but due to a change in EU regulations they will all need to be reissued at the end of 2024 with new specifications... so all ILR BRPs now expire in 2024.

Hmmmm...my BRP has still not come and I still haven't had a response back to my email sent 27/03 either. Now I'm even more worried! I will wait and see if I hear from them today and, if not, email again, I guess?

@writeshawnna: I was thinking of doing the same before my BRP happened to arrive yesterday (which was also the fifth working day since emailing UKVI). For info, I didn't get a response to my email either (yet?). I would submit the missing BRP form again if you don't receive it in the post today or don't receive an email reply from UKVI by the end of the day.

Yes, I'm hoping maybe they haven't replied since they know it is arriving soon? Fingers crossed!

Just got an email from the BRP delivery service.
"Your BRP is currently with the couriers.  They have tried to deliver but unfortunately you were unavailable to sign for the delivery." - HAHAHA, this is comical considering I haven't left the house in 3 weeks! Per the TNT delivery site, there is a photo of our front door and says they tried to deliver at noon on 13/03. Unless I happened to be in the bathroom at that time, there's no way they knocked on the door. Also, I never got any notification of attempted delivery, so if I hadn't followed up, I would have never had the tracking number or had any information about rescheduling.

Anyway, I have rescheduled delivery for tomorrow.

That's good to hear! Better be on the lookout for that ninja courier tomorrow  ;D

I just got an email response from UKVI today:

Quote
Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your enquiry regarding the delivery of the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

According to TNT’s tracking system, this BRP was delivered on April 2, 2020, to:
XXXXX
XXXXX
XXXXX
XXXXX

Delivery consignment number: XXXXX

You should try to locate the BRP using the information given above. If the BRP cannot be located using the information provided, please report it as lost using online form https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits/lost-stolen-damaged.

The BRP will then be treated as lost. It will be cancelled, and it will no longer be valid for use. An application for a replacement BRP will then need to be made. Biometrics will also need to be re-enrolled following receipt of a letter requesting this.

We advise travel arrangements should not be made until after the BRP has been received.

Right to work
If your prospective employer needs assistance to establish a statutory excuse against the imposition of a civil penalty while the BRP is received, please ask them to contact the Employer Checking Service (ECS) via on E-form on gov.uk.

Right to rent
If your prospective landlord needs assistance to establish a statutory excuse against the imposition of a civil penalty while the BRP is received please ask them to contact the Landlords Checking Service (LCS) via an E-form on gov.uk.

Thank you
