Start looking for Tomorite now if you don't already have some. Hopefully your husband can pick some up locally. When I looked a week or so ago, the prices were reasonable for delivery but now they are rocketing up.

Thanks for the tip... I'll check the shed to see if we have any leftover out there.  Might need to place yet another order!  My husband is going to get annoyed with all the shopping I've done lately.  I did at least put "I'm shielding, so please just leave in porch" in the instructions on all orders, so maybe they won't bother my husband too much.  :)

Not to be pedantic, but aren't you BEING shielded rather than shielding?

That's how I tried to write it, but I kept hitting character limits.  I had to rephrase so the importance of the message was conveyed, succinctly.  But I totally agree with you.

I say that we are isolating because you hear that term more frequently than shielding and I feel it's more likely to be grossly understood. Plus, if the implication is that we may be infected, the delivery person will be that much more careful to keep their distance!
And I actually say that we are *all* isolating to imply there are more people in the household than there actually are. That's for general security purposes!

I used shielding to avoid that implication, but that's a good point.  If they think I'm infected, they'll have a sense of self-preservation and work harder to avoid contact.  And "we" is always better than "I" for security purposes.  I will change my messaging going forward.  Thanks, larrabee!

hehe  Yes, this was an important and totally on-topic thread of conversation.  Yay, us!

This site had all kinds of interesting flour, but some kind of crazy order system where you have to sign up for delivery slots.  I've set up a system to try every hour and email me if there are slots.

My first two mill-direct flour orders were from Shipton.  They had the French type 55 that was really good.  They're a lovely company.  We just haven't been able to get "in" to shop with them, and now we have 30+kg of flour from a different mill.

Finally got a delivery slot.  I really have no idea about flour but we'll give it a go, I did take your recommendation about the French type 55.    My sourdough is going to be happy once I start feeding it this stuff.

Ooh, they look great!

How long did Shipton say it'll take before they ship your flour?

Jimbo, I randomly came across this video on YouTube tonight (I swear I wasn't looking for it, or anything at all... it was in my recommended videos), and I thought you might find it interesting.
