Problems with IRS "Get My Payment" portal with UK address?
« on: April 19, 2020, 12:54:56 PM »
Hello,

Is anyone having trouble tracking the status of their economic impact payment (i.e. stimulus check) on the IRS website? The "Get My Payment" portal will not work for me, consistently locking me out for 24 hours because it will not recognize my UK address, which is what appears on my 2019 tax return.

Has anyone else had this problem? Or, has anyone with a UK address been able to use the portal successfully and can give me some tips for making it work? I am assuming the issue has to do with post code. I've literally copy and pasted my address directly from the tax return, so I feel this must be correct. However, the portal states that ZIP or postal code is required for countries which have them, but it also specifies that you should enter a 5 digit code (which, obviously, my UK post code is not).

Would appreciate any insight or ideas on what to try next! Thanks!

It is not working for a large percentage of Americans, expat or not.

It didn't work for me either, but my stimulus payment was deposited in my bank account.

Just checking in to say that I get the same null results when searching via the IRS form and I have not had a direct deposit payment as of yet. I filed in both 2018 and 2019 with my UK address and US bank details provided. Trying not to panic yet as I know many others are in similar situations. Would be really nice to wake up to a DD because I really don't want to have to hunt down a check for months to come.

I’ve also been locked out from trying with a Uk address. Tried both with and without post code. I think I will just wait for the paper check ... if it ever comes!

No luck either using the portal.
Getting locked out with the UK address.
Curious to know if anyone has success getting into the system with a foreign address.

I still locked out. On another forum someone said they got in by putting foreign addresses in al in capital letters. I tried that but didn’t work for me.

It never worked for me until voila my check was scheduled to be cut.

I was a bit worried for a few weeks because it went from not having any status details to not recognizing my details at all!

I tried the all-caps method a few days ago and it didn't work. I tried again today and got a result!

We scheduled your check to be mailed on May 08, 2020 to the address we have in file for you.
We will mail you a letter with additional information on this payment.

Now, I just wait and see how long it takes to arrive the UK. Really not sure why the payment isn't coming via DD, but at least it's on the way.

May 15th Received Stimulus Check by Mail in Devon
« Reply #11 on: May 15, 2020, 03:39:12 PM »
For anyone out there checking the mail everyday for 'that check', we just received our check today.
It was issued on May 1st.
We had filed  a tax return (married filing jointly) in  2018 with no banking information.
Curiously we received just the one check with both our names on it.
Hope this information is of help to anyone else out there waiting patiently for their stimulus check. :)

Same here. Check received today and I was able to deposit it using my mobile banking app (US bank). Hooray! [smiley=guitarist.gif]

Congrats - we just discovered that our U.S. bank does not permit us to use  the mobile app since we are not actually in the USA.
Guess we'll have to use snail mail to send the check back across the pond LOL.
