Starting Streamline and child tax credit process
« on: April 29, 2020, 08:53:12 AM »
Good morning

This is my first time venturing into the tax forum as we have just realized that my husband (USC) should have been filing tax returns since his arrival in 2010!!

He has spoken to a US tax advisor who said he would need to file delinquency for the last 3 years and could apply for child tax credit for our child who is 2. And would also receive the stimulus check!? The advisors fee for this service would be $1,800  :o

I'm starting to get the jist after reading many posts on here, but just wanted to see if anyone had the experience of combining the streamlined application for late returns and also applying for child tax credit at the same time?
Is it relatively straightforward and something we could potentially manage ourselves or should we be considering expensive outside help?
I dont think we have a complex situation, the only financial connection he has to the US is monthly student loan payments.

Thank you very much for any guidance.
