Hello @ksand24

I hope you are doing well. I've been going through the application the past 2 weeks or so & found it to be confusing! Oh and you can't even download the application for you to review, I've also noticed today that you can't even go back and edit any answers that you've given, that's just silly if you ask me. Anyway I have copied and pasted the questions and answers to a Word document and formatted this. I'll post the contents of it here. It might be too long for a post so I will get this added to Google Docs and the link for this is below.

GOOGLE DOC

I think the non-applying children section of the application was quite confusing, questions on would the child be affected if the application was to be refused, I think I could strengthen my replies there. Anyway, take a look and let me know if that looks fine, it does to me. I just need to get the supporting documents together.

My aim is to get the application submitted before the start of August 2020. I want this out of the way, I remember the stress of this in bringing her to this country ha-ha! Before you know it I will be doing this again 2.5 years time.

When it asks to list the members of the family, I have done this for my wife just sticking to her mother/father/brothers and sisters. I've not added in any uncles/aunties/relatives, otherwise the list would be endless. The same goes when it asks about my son's family here in the UK, I've just mentioned his grandparents and uncle that lives with us on the mentioned home address on the application. Here, I've not listed everyone as the list would be ridiculously endless.

If you have any questions regarding some answers, feel free to dive in and let me know what needs amending (providing the application online allows me to)

Thanks as always for the support on here.

PS -  I've taken out the names, date of births and any other sensitive information.

Thanks,
J

Javed, I haven't read you application yet but it is going to be really useful for the forum to see the actual questions. Thank you for posting this.  :)

Hey @larabee

Not a problem, seeing as many have posted on here and the questions not showing I was left wondering what on earth are they asking the applicant this time. I hope it comes in handy for someone else.

Let me know when you go through the application. I guess I should draw up a document of questions to make it more simpler to manage.

Thanks
J

Sorry I don’t have answers to your questions, but I did have a look at the Google doc. Just wanted to warn you in case it was not intended - both your wife’s name and your name is on a number of pages.  Both first and surname.

Good luck! I will be watching this post as I am about to submit my first renewal in a few weeks and have filled out the application but not submitted yet.

It looks good, just a couple of points.  :)

.Is this the first time you have applied for a partner route, or an extension, with your current partner (including as a fiancé(e) or proposed civil partner)? Yes

This should be NO as you have already applied for the spouse visa.

Quote
I confirm I will provide: Copy of an ID document of the owner of the property you live in, such as a passport

This is good to know this is asked for when living with family.

Quote
Would your children be affected if your application was refused? Yes
Please provide details: The child is more reliant on his mother and would therefore be emotionally affected if the application was refused.

Better to say that your child would be emotionally affected if your wife had to leave the country as the result of a refusal

Quote
Do you have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK? I do not have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK

These questions are hopefully not going to matter as they would only be relevant if the application was refused but I would still go ahead and state some more reasons such as your wife has assimilated into British life, would miss friends and family here etc.

Cheers @larabee when it comes to strengthening an answer I'm not the best haha. I'll make those amendments requested, the stronger the answers the better it is for the application and the wife.

I just need to figure out how to edit the questions as I can't see any edit button. When I log in I'm on the IHS surcharge payment section. I really hope there is a way of editing the application.

If you can't get back in to edit, you could always include a note of your changes with your uploads.

I could do, you'd think you would be able to edit the application. If not, I'll probably start it over again, I don't really like using a cover note, it just looks sloppy. I'll see how it goes, probably easiest to just include that cover note & reference the section/question.

If you have not actually submitted the application, there should be a breadcrumb at the top of the page (applicant - financials - consent - etc.) Click the first link in the breadcrumb. One of those pages gives you the option the ‘Edit responses for [Name]’ - it’s a big green button.

It will always take you to the last page you completed of the application which is why you’re on the surcharge page. It’s a bad system - you need to use the breadcrumbs to get back to the right page. Just use those to navigate.

Thank you very much for that feedback. As a web developer, the UI and navigation on the application form are terrible, I'm sure I'll get there. I will take a look at this tomorrow. I want to avoid the use of any cover notes.

I feel like I'm nearly there with the application, it's just gathering the evidence now and then kick on from there.

We have a water bill in both our names, it asks how much we pay for the utility bill, it varies the prices so I've mentioned that the price varies. Will I need to submit any evidence of this other than showing the utility bill in our name?

Thank you as always, this forum is an amazing place to receive guidance/help.

Cheers
J

Sometimes I think the system is badly designed on purpose!

You might want to state how much you pay in percentage terms. For example, the bill is in joint names but if you pay all of it, you could say that. You don't need evidence of this.

Don't submit the application until you have all of your evidence in hand. Post your list here when you are ready.

Thanks, @larabee I'll definitely be posting my supporting documents list here before hitting any confirm buttons online.

The Government is the Government, there will always be hurdles in the way, we just have to get over them. Any questions I have I will let you know & post them here as it will help others in the same situation.

There is no edit button where you have mentioned, there's only the financial section where you are able to edit the answers given, what a load of nonsense this system is!

You can also download the application in a PDF by clicking on the name top right and then download the application.

I think that is why I can't edit ALL sections. I've not completed all the sections I'm at the declaration stage.

I've decided to start the application again under another email address as I am hoping my son's passport is done and delivered next week (me guessing) and I can also include his passport details in the application along with the improvements that I can make to some questions highlighted by @larabee

Thanks,
J

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe.

I have this down on my to-do list A letter from relative(s) or friend(s) confirming I or my partner lived with them for some or all of the 2-year period I can't quite remember where about in the application it mentions this, would a letter from my mum not suffice to say that that husband and wife live here rent free and that my wife has been living at this address ever since she came to this country mentioning the date she entered the country.
It's best to mention the number of rooms/bedrooms too - I knew my previous documents will come in handy! Haha!

PS: Still waiting for my sons first passport to be processed, it's been in processing status since the 28th May. Fingers crossed i hear something soon as I need the supporting documents back for this application.

Thanks,
J
