Quarantine beers/bevvys

I'll double-check the can when I get home, but I really don't think it's can-conditioned.  Even if it was, though, surely the sediment would just settle at the bottom and not be suspended in chunks throughout the liquid?

I'm going to email the pub I got them from, just to let them know and then they can take the decision whether or not to sell any more.

Yeah that's definitellllly not right. I didn't have any sediment in mine that I could notice let alone in chunks....

Checked the can and doesn't mention can conditioning but not sure if it would normally. Does say unpasturised and unrefined though.

Could it be they maybe weren't stored properly?

Lots and lots of breweries now can condition, especially in the US where breweries aren't using bottles at all now.  Making it's way over here too. Very possible

Ahh, unpastuerised beer, that is probably the reason for the chunks. Should have been at the bottom,but if the cans were shaken or not stirred upright or older than it should be,  then the sediment could have made its way through the beer.

Ahh, unpastuerised beer, that is probably the reason for the chunks. Should have been at the bottom,but if the cans were shaken or not stirred upright or older than it should be,  then the sediment could have made its way through the beer.

I was wondering if it was storage rather than conditioning just because mine wasn't like that. Only other question was around BBE dates but still should've been within that date.

What kind of steriliser is it? Sodium percarbonate (also called no rinse sanitiser)?  Or VWP? Or Star-San/Chem-San?

VWP you can clean and sanitise. It's bleach based, so you can soak your fermentation bucket in to help get the mank off the bottom. You can then use it 10-15 minutes again before filling up the bucket with your beer.  I use a non scratch  (you don't want to scratch as that is where microscopic gunk will hide to ruin your beer) scrubbing pad on my buckets and VWP or PBW (which is an oxi cleaner, but not a sanitiser) to clean out my buckets.

That pressure barrel, that might cause you a bit of headache if you're using it to serve up your beer. They tend to leak ,so you'll need to check all the O'rings and taps and make sure they're tight. They're also really only good for beers that don't need a lot of carbonation like a British ale, rather than IPA/lager. So you might want to bottle, depending on what you want to make.

First two are what i've got inside the bucket from him, and specifically the sanitiser. Third pic is what he tried to clean after making cider but didn't quite fully get out. Fourth is the 2 bits next to all the bottles i manages to repurpose.

You've definitely got everything you need for making a beer from a kit.  Wilko has some good beer kits and I know that a lot of kit brewers rate Woodfordes Wherry extremely highly.

What type of beer do you think is the easiest yo start with? I dont want too much of a challenge as i am prone to getting anxiety the first time i do something like this with worry that i'm ballsing it all up! Lol

I'd say try a 2 can kit , that way you don't have to mess with adding brewing sugar or anything. Just add water, no boiling or anything

I do enjoy TR but will look at the rest, thank you! part of me feels like cheating to to "add water only" but the other part of me wants a good experience to encourage me to do the second one hahaha. There's a brewing experience i had wanted to go to in London that is a day and teaches you a lot, but gotta wait for this all to pass now..
