Sky news is showing lots of helicopter shots of raging brushfires. You guys stay safe!
I don't know the humidity where you are (it's probably high), but if it's a dry heat you're getting, a tray of water in front of a fan blowing across it will drop the temp a few degrees. Curtains closed on all sides if you can, but at least on the "sun" side. We used to put aluminum foil on the west & south windows in Texas. Neighbors hated us, but it helped.
Once the inside of the house heats up, opening the windows on the shady side of the building a bit might help. Opening the place wide open once the sun goes down if you get a breeze, to get cooler air in will help. Doing as little physically as possible, staying very well hydrated (not beer, not tea!), and in the shade where there is air moving is your best bet for comfort. (There's a reason people in a lot of tropical countries who go out in the sun use umbrellas/parasols!"
Remember, this, too, shall pass.
It's around 97F here, with high humidity and will be again tomorrow. Thankfully we have refrigerated air that it keeping it a lovely 74F. I very well remember the days when we did not and don't envy you folks at all.
