More heavy snow. Lots of areas locally have 7-9 inches.  Chickens are hiding!

Balmy!  ;D  I've become so used to the cold that yesterday felt warm at 6 degrees!
Hopefully these temperatures will finally defrost the ground, I've got planting to do.  :)

We had ten inches of snow on Monday. (Snow day from work, Yea!)
Back to work Tuesday.
Home early from work today - more snow.
No snow predicted for tomorrow.
More snow this weekend. Maybe.

I ~knew~ all that mild weather in December was part of a trap.....  ;D :o ::)

Oh dear god, they are saying wind chills of -40F Friday and Saturday!  :o.  Well, I'll be telling the boss I'm working from home on Friday and the Daughter isn't going in on Saturday. Neither of us can handle that kind of cold.

I wonder if that's the kind of cold where you can throw a mug's worth of hot water into the air and watch it freeze before it hits the ground?

Definitely! I tried it when we had the beast from the east a few years ago. It worked and it wasn't anything like as cold as that.
I feel so sorry for the animals and birds though.

I remember the Beast from the East. Fondly, at this point.  ;D

Yeah, we've been putting out a LOT of high-calorie birdseed and chopped up nuts (and a bag of mealworms) on the balcony (management company will hang us, but later). And we now have a small colony of some sort of finch or sparrow that have gathered and are hanging out up under the earth boxes I have out there, well-protected from the wind/sleet/snow. They should be quite comfortable, as that sort of thing goes for small birds in the dead of winter

I now regret not having bought that little bird-bath heater I saw at the feed store a few weeks ago.

Oh, that's soooo cool!  I always wanted to see them, never have. Probably never will now.  :(

It was like a snowglobe out today, but no wind and the snow was fluffy, so pleasant. We are expecting the remnants of what hit the west coast to come in tomorrow night (Monday). They are saying 8 to 10 inches.  I'm betting we're going to have a "late start" Tuesday at work, or a "work from home" day.

I'd prefer the latter, of course. The two IT systems I use to do my job are now down - one is a government system with a planned outage for two weeks and one is an internal system that they've been trying to get fixed for a month. So there's almost nothing I can do, realistically. Other than answer the phone and transfer the callers to someone else because almost all of the calls are for matters I don't handle.  So if it's going to be ghastly, I really don't want to have to drive over to sit at a desk and twiddle my thumbs all day. I can do that much more comfortably from home.  ;)

Awesome! They talked about it on the news this morning. I wish they'd mention these things before they happen! Although they did say tonight was likely to be good for AB too.  :)
