Absolutely beautiful day out. Took a long time coming home from the dentist (still can't feel part of my face!) and drove through the country. 56F, blue sky, puffy white clouds. Got me thinking I'd go over to the garden after work tomorrow to start prepping for spring planting.
Only to get home and find the TV weatherman saying a fast-moving, substantial cold front was bringing arctic air, freezing rain, possibly a thunderstorm, 50mph winds, and snow squalls this evening. I am looking southwest out my window and can see an ominous gray line of incoming weather along the horizon. with the sun being blotted out by the gray as it gets taller in my window. Oh, well. We've got oil lamps, candles, and I'm going to go boil up a kettle of water to put in the thermos. On the good side, it's not supposed to hit until after 8pm now. Initially it was forecast for 7pm, when the daughter finishes work for the day. I popped out for a couple of gallons of milk, grabbed a Jersey Mike's sub for our supper, and put the car in the car barn for the duration of the storm.
High tomorrow is to be in the low 30Fs, with very windy conditions. I may regret the car barn part in the morning, when I have to hike down there to it to go to work. But at least this way no tree branches or unsecured construction materials (there's a building site not far from us) will go through my car windshield in the car barn!
(Knocking on wood.)
