It's lovely here this weekend. Blue skies, puffy white clouds, between maybe 70 and 75F with a light breeze.
But I know it's a trap. There's a heat warning out from noon on Tuesday right through Friday. 95F to 100F with high humidity. Well... ick.
I've set up an automatic drip irrigation system for the balcony, so the plant kiddies will get a little bit of water every 12 hours.
I've put shade cloths over all my tomatoes and peppers out in the garden. Need to run over there tomorrow morning, while it's still livable outside, and throw some over my potato plants, too. The garlic is going to have to fend for itself. Will be watering everything as much as I can when I get to the garden in the morning. I don't anticipate getting out there again until maybe crack-o-dawn on Thursday to check on everything and maybe water those plants that need it. The garlic is three or maybe four weeks until harvesting. The potatoes - one batch has been flowering for several days and seems done with that, and the other variety has not flowered yet. (I've put those on a water auto-drip IV.) The Cosmos have FINALLY come up and are about two inches tall. Great timing. Will rake mulch around them, I guess. Fingers are crossed.
Next weekend is supposed to be lovely again. Thank God.
PS - I've been watching various webcams from Scotland. People are wandering around in jackets/coats. I'm envious. I really do miss the climate there. Even though it could be dark and dreary, I never got a migraine from the sun there, and only rarely got too warm. Like maybe twice in four years. I'd love to say that eventually I'll be able to move back, but with how things are going there and my age/health, it doesn't seem a prudent dream to keep alive anymore. I still wish I could have a little house in Kilmartin Glen, though. Where I could sit in my conservatory and look down the valley. Or sit by a nice fire of an evening. If they are still allowing wood fires....
If I win the lottery I will.
