Basic Tax Question
« on: May 18, 2020, 05:40:32 PM »
Hello - I am hoping someone can help as I am struggling complete my taxes this year. This is the first one I've needed to file with UK income and I can no longer purchase TurboTax as don't have a US address. It should be pretty straight-forward, 2019 - worked 8 months, regular income, no dependents, minor bank interest, and student loan interest, no assets except a bank account in the US, and according to my state Maryland requirements would no longer be considered a state resident so do not need to file a state return. I am trying to use OLT online to file the Federal Return. Does anyone know if I can use my P60 to enter as W2 or do I just enter as Foreign Employer Compensation? If I translate my P60 into a W2 format, what do I add in what box? Do I use the National Insurance payments in the place of SS? When I use Foreign Employer Compensation it is saying I owe $4000, I assume because it appears I paid no tax.

I have been in residence in the UK since fall of 2018. I am keen to file and figure out the correct forms! Thank you.
