This year’s P60
« on: May 21, 2020, 11:43:56 AM »
Last year my employer gave me my P60 in person, and this year due to the virus I’ve been furloughed.
Do they send the P60 in the post or does my employer have to give it to me?

My P60s come in the post and are also available online.  It is a legal requirement to provide a P60 so I expect he will have to go to the expense of sending it through the post.Being on furlough means you are still on payroll.

Give a P60 to all employees on your payroll who are working for you on the last day of the tax year (5 April). The P60 summarises their total pay and deductions for the year.

You must give your employees a P60 by 31 May.

If payroll software does not automatically produce P60s you can order copies from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

I have to still do my taxes for the US, and need my P60. But I also need it for my visa extension, would they even except an online printed one?

Because the US tax year is different from the UK one, you will need to add up your pay slips for your US taxes.
The P60 is optional for FLR.

To do my US taxes I don’t use a P60 as the time period is wrong. I keep track of my gross income from UK sources in a spreadsheet that I use when completing my US tax return. For my UK taxes I do a self assessment and ensure that I pay the taxes due by end of December, rather than end of January which is what the UK requires.
