FLR (M) Preparation Questions
« on: June 10, 2020, 11:40:30 AM »
Hi everyone!

I am preparing for my Spouse Visa extension, and have a few questions about my documents.

1. Do I need a cover letter? I provided one last time explaining how we met, and our intentions after approval. Is this something I should include again?

2. How many P60's should I include? We are just using my husband's income to reach the requirement.

3. Should I include my tenancy agreement? If so, do I include the whole thing, or just the signed pages?

4. I don't have many pieces of mail with both of our names. The separate pieces I do have are very spread out, and the months are not exactly the same. I have a large gap in 2018. Should I write a letter explaining this? My landlord has written a letter saying we have lived together, will that be sufficient? Will this be a major issue?
(I've listed what I do have here https://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=98100.0)

Sorry if I am over posting! Thank you in advance!!

No, you don't need a cover letter.

2. How many P60's should I include? We are just using my husband's income to reach the requirement.

If you are not using your income to meet the requirements, you do not include any of YOUR P60s.

You do want to include your husband's most recent P60 (April 2020).

3. Should I include my tenancy agreement? If so, do I include the whole thing, or just the signed pages?

Yes, this is an absolute requirement for the accommodation evidence.

- If both your names are on the tenancy, you just include the tenancy (every page).
- If only one of you is listed on the tenancy, you also need a letter from the landlord confirming the tenancy particulars and giving the other person permission to continue living there.

The landlord letter is irrelevant for this requirement and won't be considered. The point is to use mail to prove you were both physically living in the same house in the months each piece of mail was delivered to your house. A letter from the landlord only proves you were living together on the date the letter was written and mailed to you.

The requirements are:
- 6 documents in each name, 1 in each name every 4 months for the last 2 years... if they are separately addressed they must be from the same month, ideally dated within a few days of each other
- you need at least 3 official sources
- they must be original documents mailed to your house in the months they are dated
- if you cannot meet all of these requirements, you must write an explanation for why you cannot provide all of the required documentation

If you are applying in June 2020, you will need 1 document in each name for each of the following months:
June 2018
Oct 2018
Feb 2019
June 2019
Oct 2019
Feb 2020
June 2020 (optional extra)

Can you list all the documents you have and the dates printed on them?

Can you use monthly mailed bank statements? If you are receiving bank statements in the post every month (which is one of the things we recommend you sort out as soon as you arrive in the UK), you can just use them to fill in the gaps.

Ah, I've just seen that you linked to your list of documents in another thread.

It's much easier for us to help you if you can keep ALL your questions about your visa application in one thread only. so that we don't have to go hunting for your other posts.

Thank you for your response.

I entered the country on January 24, 2018, and my visa expires October 24, 2020. I plan to apply in July.
Here is what I have

2018
January 31st 2018- Spouse's pension letter
February 27th 2018- My National Insurance info letter
March 12th 2018- Spouse's Council Tax Letter
May 11th 2018- My HMRC letter
August 22 2018- My IRS tax return letter

2019
February 21st 2019- My DBS
March 28th 2019- Spouse's Acro Police Certificate
April 29th 2019- Spouse's Pension letter
May 8th 2019- My DVLA application confirmation letter
July 31st 2019- My HMRC Tax form
September 27th 2019- Joint Mortgage Promise letter
October 10th 2019- My updated DBS
November 21st  2019- Spouse's letter from his place of employment
December 15th 2019- My bank statement

2020
January 3rd 2020- My PIN letter from the bank
January 3rd 2020- Spouse's PIN letter from the bank
February 2020- Joint bank account information letter
May 6th 2020- Spouse's water bill (My husband did not add me to the account like I asked him to. He's a bit of a procrastinator, and I forgot to remind him. Our old roommate's name is still on it whom has not lived with us since I first moved here. Will this be an issue?)
May 13th 2020- My bank statement
May 2020 - Joint bank statement.
We are currently waiting for an updated Council Tax Bill that includes my name as well. It was another thing he didn't add me to. Ugh!

This is all I have, unfortunately. I was a complete idiot, and forgot to save all my mail.

I'm going to bring your document list over to this thread, so I don't have to keep going back and forth between them.

I entered the country on January 24, 2018, and my visa expires October 24, 2020.

Okay, so if you entered the UK on January 24th 2018, you will reach 30 months in the UK on July 24th 2020, so the earliest you can apply for FLR(M) is June 26th 2020.

So, assuming you apply in late June or early July, you will still want mail from the following months:
June 2018
Oct 2018
Feb 2019
June 2019
Oct 2019
Feb 2020
June 2020 (optional extra)

Let's see what you have:

June 2018
1. You: ?
1. Husband: ?

October 2018
2. You: ?

5. You: updated DBS
5. Husband: ?

February 2020
6. Joint: Joint bank account information letter

June 2020
7. You: ?
7. Husband: ?

Alternatively, maybe you could try July 2018 to July 2020:
July 2018
November 2018
March 2019
July 2019
November 2019
March 2020
Optional: July 2020

July 2018
1. You: ?
1. Husband: ?

November 2018
2. You: ?
2. Husband: ?

March 2019
3. You: DBS
3. Husband: Acro Police Certificate

July 2019
4. You: HMRC Tax form

Thanks!

I'm afraid the documents I listed are all that I have for 2018 and 2019. 2020 can be worked out as I have saved everything so far this year.

It's just 2018 and 2019 that I am really concerned about now. I just discovered I got the date wrong on one of the 2018 letters. So, all I have for 2018 is

2018
Me: February and May
Husband: January and March

Since nothing matches up, and they are very scattered should I still use what I have, or just write a letter? I've read somewhere (can't remember which forum) that people have been approved with no mail, and just a letter. Is this true, or am I completely out of luck?

If I apply July 1st online, and plan to scan my documents at my BRP appointment, do I have to supply July as well, or supply only up to the date of application?

Thanks again:)

Apologies for jumping on the end of this topic, but since my wife's entry to the UK is similar then I'm curious about documentation. Does it have to be exactly those dates? Eg if the first 2 sets of documentation are to be on June 2018 and October 2018 but we can only find some official documentation for eg, April 2018 and September 2018 then would that suffice? Is it about not having a gap of > 3 months?

Thanks, Martin

Okay, how about using May 2018 to May 2020?

You would have:

May 2018
1. You: HMRC letter
1. Husband: ?

September 2018
2.You: ?
2. Husband: ?

January 2019
3. You: (maybe: February 21st 2019- My DBS)
3. Husband: ?

May 2019
4. You: May 8th 2019- My DVLA application confirmation letter
4. Husband: April 29th 2019- Spouse's Pension letter (it’s almost May and only a week before yours so will probably be okay)

September 2019
5. Joint: September 27th 2019- Joint Mortgage Promise letter

January 2020
6. You: My PIN letter from the bank
6. Husband: Spouse's PIN letter from the bank

May 2020
7. You: bank statement
7. Husband: water bill

So that gives 6 documents in your name and 4 documents in his name, which is better... so you would only have to explain a couple of missing documents.

Do you have no other mail at all? Not even less official items like from store cards or online orders?

You have a bank statement for 2020, what about for 2018 and 2019?

What about payslips? Any phone bills, internet bills etc.?

Just trying to think of other things you might be able to use.

Thanks for that breakdown!
I went through all of the mail we have, and was able to find a few more things for 2018. However, they don't line up in May or September. What I do have is:

February 2018
Me: National Insurance Number letter
Husband: Pension letter

April 2018
Me: NHS letter
Husband: Pension letter

Would those dates work?

The only other mail I was able to find dated from 2018 was an envelope from personal correspondence in September. Is this usable?

I found an invoice for May 2019 addressed to my husband. It doesn't look very "official" but is the only other thing I can find. Would this be better, or should I just stick with the document from April since it is more official?

Other than that I don't have anything else, unfortunately  :-\\\\

No, unfortunately, those are two early.

You are only supposed to go back a MAXIMUM of 2 years from your application date... so, if you're applying early July, really you should only go back as far as June 2018... though I think you could get away with May 2018, since you have more documents for those months than if you start with June 2018.

You could maybe include it if you have nothing else.

Given that his April document is dated April 29th, it's official, and it's close to your May document, I'd probably stick with the April one.

You can only provide what you have. I was just trying to figure out monthly spacings so that you could provide the most documents possible.

You can just write a letter of explanation for what you're missing.

You're going to have to do this all again for ILR in 2.5 years, but for ILR, you need to cover the whole 2.5 years, so 6 documents, 1 every 5 months, so things you can do now to prepare are:

- switch all your bank statements to PAPER statements so you receive them ALL in the mail every single month
- get your name added to as many bills as possible, if you're not already added
- turn off paperless for EVERYTHING
- save every single item of mail you receive for the next 2.5 years
- try to work out when you will apply for ILR and therefore what spacing you will need in 2023, so that you won't get stuck without mail in the right months when you're ready to apply for ILR

I'll definitely be better prepared next time  :)

Hello again,
I'm trucking through the process, and am currently gathering for the financial requirements. Just a quick question about bank statements.

When my husband got his 6 months of statements printed at the bank the clerk would only stamp the first page, and there are a total of 20 pages.
Does every single page have to be stamped or will the first page suffice?

Thanks in advance :)

If the statements have been printed by the bank, they do not need to be stamped.

It’s only online statements you have printed at home that must be stamped... to prove you did not tamper with them before you printed them.

Hi, just wanted to say thank you for all the help! I was approved today! I am so relieved, and couldn't have done it without all the pointers :)
