So, just to get this straight.

Gibraltar and Denmark were suggested. Are there any other places that we could get married? (read very simply, just a simple town hall style thing with just us two and witnesses without residency requirements and so on like in France and Spain)?

I'd much prefer just to jump across to the states and do it then do the application but god knows when that will be possible :(

I saw we could have done this in Ireland maybe but you need to give three months notice, so I guess we missed that boat.

I was under the impression that we'd only be able to do this in the States but hadn't even considered other places because why would we have prior to Covid but now things are opening up a bit, we could go do it.

This year is tough. Really was dealt a bad hand

We got married in Cyprus.

Arrived Monday afternoon, signed documents on Tuesday at the Town Hall, got married at 4pm on the Wednesday.

also another concern would be even if Brits are allowed to enter, it's going to be a lot harder for an American passport holder to enter I suppose.

Cyprus would be a great option but UK Currenntky not allowed and I imagine they won't quickly put Americans on the list. ..

Thanks for the message :)

My 2p...

Enjoy the time left on the tourist visa.  Worry about this when things are a bit more normal.  Hopefully that could be as early as August or September.

Have you contacted your local registry office that allows foreigners to marry?  You may be allowed to marry here due to the circumstances.  I just don’t know if they are open!

That would be a great idea - it has to be worth checking out the local registry office first.

Looks like it is a no go with the registry offices at the moment:

 I found this:

     Wedding and civil partnership ceremonies

Following the government guidance we are now cancelling all ceremonies up to and including the 30 June 2020. This includes
ceremonies taking place at the Town Hall and all venues that are licenced to hold ceremonies.

I am wondering if this will start to change after 30th June??????

Not sure where in the UK you are but registry offices in Scotland are taking notice again, as of yesterday.
