Can I Travel With a Pending Application?
« on: June 25, 2020, 08:58:40 PM »
Hi everyone,

I have a pending UK spouse visa application but haven't been able to get my biometrics done because of VAC closures. I still have my passport and have only submitted the online portion of the application. Am I allowed to travel to the UK in the meantime? I was under the impression I couldn't but have since read conflicting info so now I'm not sure.

I've also read that VACs likely won't reopen for a long while - which has me worried.  ???

I can't necessarily answer the question however when I applied for my spousal visa in 2017 I submitted the application while I was in the UK and travelled back to the U.S. to do biometrics. I think that method is generally frowned upon tho.

Side question. I thought for biometrics you have to go to a U.S. customs and immigration centre, not a v4s application centre. The USCS seem to be operating normally since June 4. Although there could be closures depending on outbreaks of covid.

Some operations with USCIS reopened but the application support services did not. I tried contacting them and VFS asking when they would reopen and neither one had an answer. What I don't understand is why we can't do biometrics in the UK since their centers have reopened? Especially since they're allowing people to now switch from within the country?

I would have to go back to the US to do biometrics anyway unless they change the rules but I don't understand if I'm allowed to visit the UK in the meantime if offices won't reopen for a while?

The USCIS Application Support Centres are still all closed and will be opening at a later date. They did not reopen on June 4th.

From the USCIS website:
