Your letter looks great.

Just keep an eye out on the forum and the official site for any Covid related changes to the process.

Apologies for the double post.  Have just amended our letter explaining missing correspondence items, and to explain why some items are missing / not spaced evenly.  Grateful for any comments on this too!

XX September 2020

Dear Sir / Madam

RE: Proof of cohabitation

We are writing in support of [applicant] application to extend her stay in the UK as the wife of [sponsor] (form FLR (M)).

We have included in our application paper copies of original mail we received to the addresses at which we have jointly lived, covering the period September 2018-September 2020.

We have been unable to provide paper copies from the following months:
September 2018 – [sponsor]
January 2019 – [sponsor]
January 2019 – [applicant]

We had kept records of postal mail received throughout the period we have lived together, but unfortunately have lost some of these during a recent change of address.

In lieu of this, and to support our application, we have included digital copies of official correspondence from those months.  We have also included an original paper copy correspondence from [sponsor] from July 2018.

In other instances we were unable to locate a paper copy from the precise month required, so instead have submitted the following:
September 2018 - we have submitted a paper original addressed to [applicant]  dated October 2018
May 2019 - we have submitted a paper original addressed to [sponsor] dated July 2019
September 2019 - we have submitted a paper original addressed to [sponsor] dated August 2019

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any queries.

Yours faithfully

I would change "This is a brief note" to "I am writing this letter"... because this is not a 'brief note' it's an official, formal letter, which is extremely important to the application.

Also, so you are missing the following:
- length of time earning current salary... because the letter needs to confirm she has been earning £23,000 for at least 6 months.

The payslip confirmations should also list the exact date each payslip was issued and each was deposited into her bank account. This really should be in table format so they can read all the information at a glance.

Oh, also, if the payslips are dated on the last day of each month, that means you are currently 1 month short of meeting the requirements, so you will need the February payslip and bank statement as well, as the 6 months you will need to cover are 29th February to 31st August, inclusive.

_________________________________________________ _________________________________________________ ____________

So, a slightly revised letter:

To Whomever It May Concern.

I am writing this letter to confirm that XX is a permanent employee at XX, fulfilling the role of Marketing Assistant since May 2019. She has been continuously employed by XX since March 2018 and has been receiving a salary of £23,000 per annum since [DATE].

I can also confirm that the payslips and P60 submitted as part of XX's application are genuine and were produced by our finance department. XX employees are paid on the 25th of every month or the first working day before if the 25th falls on a non-working day. The payslip is produced on the final day of each month.

Pay Period               Payslip date            Gross pay       Net Pay            Date deposited into bank account
February 2020        29/02/2020             £XXXX.XX      £XXXX.XX        25/02/2020
March 2020            31/03/2020             £1916.67        £1519.98         25/03/2020
April 2020               30/04/2020             £1916.67        £1528.94         24/04/2020
May 2020                31/05/2020             £1916.67        £1528.94         25/05/2020
June 2020               30/06/2020             £1916.67        £1528.74         25/06/2020
July 2020                31/07/2020             £1916.67        £1528.94         24/07/2020
August 2020           31/08/2020             £1916.67        £ XXXX.XX      25/08/2020

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information

Yours Faithfully,
Their name

Thanks so much - we'll make those tweaks and get this signed!

Hi again - a quick question about the process following submission of the online application: do we need to upload the supporting documents immediately, or by a specific date such as when the current visa expires?  Or is this something which we can do any time before attending the appointment / completing the process via the app?

You can do it at any time before attending biometrics/submitting via the app.

Your options for uploading the documents are:

- upload on the UKVCAS website at any time before attending biometrics/using the app

- upload on the app when you are invited to use it

- if attending a biometrics appointment, you can purchase the scanning service and they will upload the documents for you at the appointment

Brilliant, thank you.  To confirm, the date that the docs need to relate to is the one on which we hit submit on the online application, regardless of how long it takes to get an appointment/use the app?

Yes, that’s correct.

The date you submit the online application is your official application date, so the documents must relate to that date :).

Great, cheers.

Another quick question on this.  Do all the docs need to be dated before the application was submitted?  We are ready and eager to hit 'submit' but just awaiting this month's cohabitation proof to arrive in the mail...

Yes, they should be, because the date you submit the application is your official application date, and you have to show you meet all the requirements and have all the documents ready on that date.

Hi all,

Just looking at the family consent form and trying to work out which part of it we need to sign:

Part 1: signed by the applicant, straightforward
Part 2: we think that the sponsor should sign this, given some of the docs are in their name / joint names?
Part 3: we think we leave this blank as no third party is sponsoring the application? (we are using the applicant's income)

Is this correct...?  Thanks as ever for your help!

Yes, that's correct.

Part 1: Signed by applicant
Part 2: Signed by anyone who is named jointly with the applicant on any bills/statements provided (usually the sponsor, but also anyone else who might be named on any evidence provided)
Part 3: No one signs

Brill, thanks!

Just to confirm, part 2 wouldn't include the applicant employer, would it?  She has signed a letter confirming the applicant's position, salary etc which will be submitted in the application.

Have the sponsor sign part 2. We had no joint accounts so I hadn't, but UKVI emailed and said the application wasn't valid until they did.
