Have you been contacted by UKVI by email yet to let you know whether or not you are eligible to use the app or if you will need to book an appointment to give biometrics?

If you have not received an email about the IDV app, you may not be eligible to book an appointment through UKVCAS yet, which could be why nothing is showing up when you search for appointments.

I don't think my wife has received any emails on the IDV app but I'll get her to recheck.

If she hasn’t yet, then I think you’ll probably have to wait until she receives an email with further instructions before she can book an appointment.

We're going to scan and upload the rest of the documents now, and then Submit later on this afternoon. So hopefully we get the appointments showing.

You won't get appointment availability until UKVI contacts you to tell you whether you can reuse biometrics with the app, and then opt out if you choose. Or they will notify you that your biometrics can't be reused and invite you to schedule an appointment. There are thousands of applicants still waiting to be invited to use the app or schedule an appointment. Unfortunately all you can do is be patient right now!

Thanks TwoWool. Most useful. We did the documentation submissions tonight, so we'll keep an eye out for emails over the next week or two.

Really glad they are now communicating timelines! That was a significant part of my complaint to my MP, being left in the dark on such an important thing is not nice but at least we are all in the same proverbial boat right now.

There’s multiple threads so this was posted in one about the IDV app. Sopra Steria has updated again yesterday with timelines.

‘ Our plan is to email eligible IDV customers inviting them to use the IDV app:

By 7 September 2020 for IDV customers who have registered with UKVI and UKVCAS up to 31 July 2020

By 14 September 2020 for IDV customers who registered with UKVI and UKVCAS in August 2020’

Just wanted to give a update to everyone that is following this thread I applied on the 10th of August. I received the email today saying the UKVI can reuse my info and that I am eligible for the application. So now just need to wait until I receive the invitation email.

Same for my wife who applied on 9th August and submitted her scanned docs on 24th. We just have to wait for the email to use the app, expected around 14 September.

Hi all,

I am renewing my spouse visa, I had the appointment this morning in Croydon, near London. I was there for about 1,5 hours. This is the appointment I paid £ 159.99 (includes scanning of documents). Now I am hoping that the visa will arrive in few weeks, hopefully it will be less than 8 weeks. Fingers crossed!

I just got this rather disheartening email..... anyone else get this???? I applied for FLRM on July 13 and still have not gotten my email invite for the app... then this hit my inbox. What does it all mean? Are they not gonna make their own Aug 7th deadline? Any thoughts anyone? My hair is falling out....

Thank you for your application for permission to stay in the UK.

We apologise for the inconvenience, but, due to the worldwide response to COVID-19, UKVI services are limited and we are not able to meet our usual service standards.

Although we would normally decide your application within eight weeks from the date it was submitted, unfortunately this may not be possible in your case.

In line with Government advice on essential travel, social distancing and other restrictions related to COVID-19, for the safety of our customers and our staff, the UK Visa and Citizenship Application Service (UKVCAS) locations where you would ordinarily submit your biometric details and provide any documents for scanning that you have not already uploaded yourself, have been closed.  Some centres are now opening with limited capacity so you may now be able to get an appointment – it is important you attend if an appointment is offered.

If your application was submitted prior to your current grant of leave expiring, your current status within the United Kingdom has been extended by section 3C of the Immigration Act 1971. You do not need to do anything else at this stage and do not need to be concerned about your immigration status.

If you have applied to switch your status in respect of your employment or studies then please refer to the guidance on Gov.UK as you should be permitted to commence work / study prior to your application being decided, should you meet the conditions set out in the guidance.

We apologise for the delay in dealing with your application and for the inconvenience this is causing. Please be assured we will do all we can to make a decision on your case as quickly as possible once your biometric details have been submitted.

We appreciate your patience at this time.

Kind regards.

Yours sincerely
