Thanks Ksand24. Sorry for another question but the mail lost the July bank statement so my fiancé went into the bank and they printed out a statement and stamped it. This statement lists all of the transactions from today to January 2020. It shows his salary coming in etc. Is this OK to use?

I assume you are using the bank statement for the financial requirement? If so, and it covers the full 6 months and shows all the payslips being paid in, then yes, that should be fine :).

It's a never ending list of questions/ problems that arise. The bank provided the entire month of December on the statement printed out by the bank today including the December work payment. We are not using the December paystub because that would be 8 months not 7. Is this an issue if it's on the statement but we don't include the paystub? Thanks.

If you're not including the December paystub, there should be no need to include the December bank statement either, since the ONLY reason you are providing the bank statement is to prove your paystub deposit is on it.

What are the exact date ranges of the paystubs and the bank statements?

It's on the official stamped one provided by the bank today. There are no separate statements as it's all in one document. Is it an issue if we delete that information off? And we are including January 2020 through July 2020. Some August weeks are on there but no August Paystub payment.

Ah, I'd forgotten that it was all on one statement. In that case, you don't do anything... you just provide the entire statement, along with the January to July paystubs.

DO NOT delete ANYTHING from the December part of the bank statement - that's considered tampering with an official document and could cause issues with the authenticity of the statement.

Basically, they will ONLY look at the January to July dates on the statement to check that the January to July paystubs have been deposited. That's it.

They just need to tick a box to say that they have seen 7 bank deposits on the bank statement (Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul). They won't even look at the December part of the statement because it is not relevant to the visa application.

I might have messed up and would love some advice. Because of Covid and because of worry of things shutting down my fiance and I submitted my application but put my requested entry date as January 2, 2021. This is because I want my family to be able to attend and I want to try and get my fiance visa before things close. My biometrics appointment is scheduled for next Thursday. Do you think this will be a problem or due to Covid etc. it may not matter. Nothing in anything official I can find says it can only be 3 months before your intended travel date but I saw something that say that today and it got me worried. Thanks.

For several years, you could only apply 3 months before you wished to enter the UK. However, about a year or two ago they started allowing you to select a date up to 6 months in advance. So you should be fine.

Having said that, we usually advise selecting the EARLIEST possible date you wish to enter the UK... because if the visa is processed by then, you can move on that date (the visa will normally start about 7 days before the date you put), but if the visa isn't processed by then, it will simply be made valid starting a few days after the visa decision is made.

The only thing to consider with using Jan 1st 2021 as the intended travel date is the fact that if the visa is issued earlier than that, it still won't start until late Dec 2020 or early Jan 2021, which means you will not be allowed to move to the UK before that date.

So that means that say, for example, your visa is issued more quickly than you expect and you get it in September or October, you will still have to wait until January (the visa start date) before you can enter the UK. Whereas if you put a start date of say, September 1st, and you get the visa in October, you can move to the UK immediately.
