The amount $30/£16 sounds good to me as well.  So if there are no objections, we'll just go with that amount, and if we need to tweak things later, we'll do so.

If it's ok with everybody, I'll draw the names tomorrow.  I'm entertaining in a few hours (my old work gang is coming around later), so I'm a bit short on time today.

Then after we all have the name of our foodie friends, I would suggest talking personally to your new friend to discuss what items everybody wants.  Does that sound ok?

And of course, refer to Mars Bar's fab list of restricted items!

LOL that sounds great kellie! Very excited here!

That sounds good to me! I assume we're shipping surface, not air mail? It'll take a while for the first packages to arrive, but since we're going to be doing it on a fairly regular basis, it should all even out in the end. Do others agree?

Dunno about this one really. I believe Velveeta MIGHT be able to be shipped (gotta see the packaging) but that would NEED to go by airmail. Things like chrisps and tinned foods can easily go by surface. Perhaps it would be best to decide on that personally with our buddy depending on what they want sent. If they want more goodies and dont mind waiting then surface is a good idea. If your just CRAVING peppermint patties tho and you dont mind having a bit less to have them quicker - airmail it is. Good idea?

one additional thought - when sending by surface make sure and check the use by date on ALL the packages, including chrisps. It can take 6 - 8 weeks for surface mail to arrive.

Sorry I didn't get this done during Brit time today.  However, my son has just done the honours and the foodie friends are:

Mars Bar:  Maddierose and HG

Kellie:  Pebbles and Belindaloo

One thing I was unsure about was Muse, did you want to participate?  I don't want to leave anybody out; you said it sounded like a good idea, and does that mean you want to join in?

Hopefully, some of the others on the US side will join in, too so that even more people can participate!  But I think we're off to a good start!  I'm looking forward to this!

Are we gonna pick a date for our first food swap or will it be different for everyone?

As for dates, what does everybody think of the quarterly program?  We could begin with Feb, then it would be May, August and November?   If that doesn't work, we could always change it.

And we could aim to post the packages the first week of the month?

The first week of Feb

Hope you don't mind if I send mine off the last week of January. After that, I'm off to Paris for a few days and I don't want the delivery to be late!
