Going home for Christmas...?
« on: August 13, 2020, 05:21:30 PM »
So like many of you I am waiting for an invitation to this app to upload my picture to so I can get my FLR(M). My BRP expired in May (I applied for my extension in March)

I’m supposed to be back home in the states right now for holiday...that’s obviously not happening. I’d like to go home for Christmas but at this rate it’s not even looking hopeful I will  have a decision on my visa application by then.

What are everyone’s thoughts on this? What if this is the case? If so do you think there’s any chance the UK Govt will allow leave for people to come back into the country that are waiting on decisions? I certainly don’t think so but want to get everyone’s thoughts.

I’ve also got a wedding in Aruba in mid Nov...booked before the pandemic though and travel insurance covers that. Think early to mid nov is too early for a decision?

Cheers!

A

You cannot leave the UK while your visa is processing.

As your visa has expired, you are now on 3C Leave, which allows you to REMAIN in the UK legally (and continue to work) while your visa is processing.

However, as soon as you leave the UK, your 3C Leave becomes invalid... which means you will lose your right to reside in the UK, and you will not be allowed back in again, as you will have no valid visa allowing you to live and work in the UK.

Hi ksand24 thank you for that! Yes I’m well aware that I can’t leave. Just curious on anyone’s thoughts on how long we think we’ll be in limbo here.

It's anyone guess at the moment. With COVID19 and the home office not functioning at full capacity, it could be a while.
