I believe it's the BRP for ID verification. It seemed to be what they used in the demo video. That's what we used.
Good to know more of us are getting the invite!

PS: The photo of the BRP does not go under a tab in Documents. Once you are in the app, it's in the section called ID Verification.
The app only has Documents and ID Verification.
I recommend you watch the video first. You can find a link to it on the UKVCAS website under the App FAQ section. Then you'll know what to expect.
Hope it goes smoothly.

Your signature is helpful. I'm about one month behind you. I submitted my ILR (M) online application on 11 June 2020 but have not yet received the invitation to use the app (which is what I opted to do).

They posted a little update yesterday saying when they hope to contact everyone by.

Quote
Our plan is to email eligible IDV customers inviting them to use the IDV app:

By 7 September 2020 for IDV customers who have registered with UKVI and UKVCAS up to 31 July 2020

By 14 September 2020 for IDV customers who registered with UKVI and UKVCAS in August 2020

I apparently missed one of the consents when scanning, so I got an email to resubmit that 2 days ago (and did immediately) but nothing since. No invitation to the app yet. Not having a valid visa is wearing me down, and now I fear missing something else important even though I know I submitted everything needed.

This looks like the right thread for me, I apologize if I've missed a more applicable one.  Anyway, I got the email inviting me to download the new IDV app last night.  Being more a morning person I attempted to follow the instructions this morning.... *sigh*  This stuff makes me nuts!  I do have a smart phone, but pretty much only use it for calls, texts, and pictures, so I'm not adept at downloading stuff.  I use my Windows 10 desktop for that.  I persevered and got all the way through only to be told my device isn't compatible with this version!!  :-\\\\

I'm downloading through Google Play, I have an android smart phone so I've no idea why I'm getting this message.  Help please!!

It's most likely an issue with your phone. How old is it? There's minimum specs that your phone needs to have to be able to use the app - - Android 7.0 and above and a camera with at least 5 megapixals and above.
Have you tried downloading the app on another phone?

Check if your phone operating system is up to date. If you go into the settings it should be in there. How old is your phone?

They didn't include the OS requirements when giving the choice to opt out. That would have been helpful!

My phone is android 6.0.1 so evidently despite the fact it is only 4 years old, it is too old for this.  I do not have extra phones lying around that are newer, I barely use this one!  Sorry, I'm barely hanging in there with technology as it is, so making changes usually involves intense anxiety and frustration, accompanied by foul language and teeth grinding.  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Do I really need to buy a new phone just to download this app?

I don't suppose my Kindle Fire 10 would be of any use with this?  I did make an adjustment to it to accept Google apps, so maybe I'll give that a go....

Thank you for your replies.  Despite my snarky post above, I am grateful and don't mean to take it out on the messengers.   :)

My phone was not compatible with the app either, but it does not work with any UK Gov or official apps (NHS, banks etc)... We think it's because I've ported my phone data etc from my old North American phone into my new UK phone. So, even though my iPhone was bought in the UK, and I have a UK phone number, UK-based systems do not recognize my phone as a UK phone... They think it is a 'foreign' phone.
We used my husband's iPhone and it worked perfectly.

I've added this info in case other people with the right OS still find they have a compatibility issue.

We are all at the edge of our limits with this process right now! Does your spouse have a newer phone? The kindle might work if the camera is good enough. :)

That may be because of the Apple ID you are using with your iPhone, rather than the phone itself.

I have 2 Apple IDs, one registered with my UK credit card and one registered with my US credit card... and I can only download certain apps with each Apple ID.

So if I want to download a US-specific app, I use my US Apple ID and if I want to download a UK-specific app, I switch back to my UK Apple ID.

Yeah, if I'm having this issue I'm sure others are having plenty of their own.  Your suggestion is a good one, so I don't mean to sound flippant, but my husband's phone is officially a relic.  We refer to mine as a "smart phone", his is a "stupid phone" that barely sends and receives texts.  Anyway, I'll keep forging ahead for a bit, but I may have to admit defeat and spend the money to call for help....

I managed to get through the app today with my pixel phone. It's not super intuitive, you have to click the icons at the bottom to review your documents and complete the ID check, and then go back to the landing screen to submit. Ideally the app would prompt you to take the steps needed to properly submit everything, but it doesn't yet.

My FLR(M) application was submitted May 15ish, so I hope we start seeing approvals for the March folks who went through the app soon!
