I am SURE the answer to this question is on here somewhere.....but.....

How long does it take to earn dual citizenship or aquire a work visa?

What percentage of people that apply receive one or the other?

Dual citizenship -- three years if you're married to a UK citizen...five years otherwise.

As for a work permit -- I'm not sure I understand your question as there are several ways to obtain work clearance.  If you enter the UK on a fiance visa, you can adjust your status to spouse (and thus gain work clearance) once you're married.  If you enter on a spousal visa, you'll have immediate work clearance.  Otherwise, you'll need to be sponsored by a UK company for a work permit (which isn't always easy) -- a process that could take several months or more, depending on your circumstances.

For some clarity, I am working in the US without any dual citizenship, or any work premits from any government.  I think I am going to work in the UK.  I assume I will need a work permit from the UK government.  I am married and my spouse will make the move no earlier than 6 months after my departure. 

So, what I am reading is that a few months is a farily safe assumption for a work permit if my company sponsors me, right?

Are you a US citizen?

You'll need to find a UK company to sponsor you or you may be able to arrange for an international transfer, depending on your current company's policy.  It's a difficult situation if you have to find a UK company to sponsor you as you can't technically look for work while you're here on a visitor's visa.  You'll be limited to contacting employers from the US and frankly, it's difficult to get UK employers to pay any attention to you if you aren't already here.

Your wife will need to apply for a visa before she comes to the UK.  I'm not sure about that process as you'll be here on a work permit and I really only know about the fiancee' and spousal visa processes.

You might also look into the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme...just another option to add to the list!   

I believe those who come here on work permits or HSMP visas must live here for 5 years before being eligible to naturalise.  They are not eligible to become permanent residents until they have lived and worked here for 4 years.
