Lockdown again in Scotland. Imagine BoJos 8pm announcement is the same for England....

I’m sure it is, the big question is how tight a lockdown. Our dentist called us today confirming our appointments for Wednesday and going over the Covid protocols. Dentists were closed during the big lockdown in March/April.

Not sure how it could be tighter for me, unless they make it like France and you have to print out a form saying where you are going every time you leave the house.

Right?  At this point, it’s not those following the rules who are the problem....  starting slapping £10,000 fines that are ENFORCED and maybe they’ll see a tiny improvement.  Still unlikely.  I really don’t think we need more rules.

I don’t think the tiers work though.  Never have thought they worked.  It really does need to be all or nothing.  For England at least,

I honestly don’t get why she is calling this lockdown. Virtually everything is allowed to still be open.  Other than schools not going back until February, what’s different? We need an actual lockdown if it’s going to make a difference. This won’t.

I’ll still be working (dental nurse), husband will still be working (construction), every non-essential store I’ve seen is still open for click and collect. This won’t make a bit of difference. People will unfortunately still do what they want. Still no sign of my vaccine appointment. May take to wearing my respirator all day at work at this rate.

They have definitely ramped up the vaccination train here in the Grampian area. Got a message yesterday from my work verifying if i wanted the vaccine or not. Within 5 minutes had a phone call from NHS to give me an appointment.

First dose given today. The new guidance is the second dose may not be until 12 weeks later instead of 3-4 weeks. Assuming that's to give the first dose to as many people as possible. There were so many people at the hospital but it was really well organised. I didn't even feel the jab! Quite happy today!

Brilliant.

We are seeing more of our 80+ friends being vaccinated here as well. One of them is 83 and just received an appointment for him and his 76 year old wife. They both have diabetes so the local NHS have sensibly decided to have them make the journey for their appointments together rather than be rigid with the group priorities.

I'm really glad they're using sense.  :)

I've had to take my daughter twice now for the drive through testing since one of the clients she works with has passed away from Covid.  The first time the test was inconclusive, for the next test I was ready to grab that swab myself and shove it up there real good.
Actually, the whole thing only took about 10 minutes, the test center was empty.

Our son was tested at a drive through centre. He said it was quick and it came back negative.

One of my sisters got sick just before Christmas and the local test centre was fully booked so they sent her a home test kit which arrived within 2 hours. She was positive and was pretty ill for 2 weeks. Her husband booked a test on Christmas Eve and went to the test centre, getting the result on Christmas Day. The test was positive and he was also very sick for 2 weeks.

My other sister got sick and the doctor treated her for stomach flu for 2 days before ordering a home test kit which came back positive. Since then she became very sick with Covid symptoms and is now starting to feel better 10 days after first symptoms. Her husband also now has it and is about 5 days into it.

Ugh, I’m glad you avoided it durhamlad!

Great that you got the vaccine Kristie!

My mom had the vaccine yesterday in Florida.  The system is super disorganised there.  Everyone over 65 is in the first priority group, so doctors, nurses, medics, elderly, vulnerable, etc., are all clamouring at once.  And over 65 in Florida?  That’s about 99% of the population.   ;)

My dad has different insurance so who knows when he will be able to get it.   ::)

This morning my daughter woke me up at 8 am to tell me that the test had come back positive, and her work wanted her to go and take care of old people anyway!  She went ahead as she only had 1 or two visits scheduled and I let her because I was half asleep and figured here work should know better than me whether it was safe.   Now that we've had calls from Track and trace and they are taking it very serously, I can't help but think how insane that was to send her to an unsuspecting old person's house.

Anyway, our bike ride and grocery shop are cancelled now, its a whole week of isolation.  My daughter is staying in her tiny room and will have one bathroom while we bring her meals

Please report her employer! Wow.

I hope she recovers quickly and the rest of the family stay safe.

Golly Jimbo.  That's WHACK!  How long ago was her vaccine?  Any chance it's a false positive beause her body is "fighting covid"?
