That must be so frustrating for your friends margo, let's hope the jab had time to build enough anti-bodies to mitigate their symptoms.

We dropped off shopping at our son's today. He has a convenient porch/boot room inside his front door so we left his groceries there and from the outside waved at him as he was working online, wearing headphones, using his company laptop.

Three days since exposure, no symptoms so far.

Got a phone call from our son yesterday (Saturday). His NHS Covid app alerted him to the fact that he had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive and has to self isolate for another 9 days. He called his boss who told him that he knows who it is and is preparing a message to go out to the team informing that they will be working from home for the next 2 weeks.

I'm sorry to hear that he was exposed; crossing my fingers he doesn't get it.  Or if he does, it ends up being mild, self-limiting, and self-resolving.

Kudos to his boss though for doing the responsible thing in response to the notification.

Got a letter in the post today.  My second Pfizer jab is April 10th.  It'll be just eight weeks after my first, so not as long as it could've been.  That is all.

(I mean, that is enough... I'm thrilled!)

Two of my very high risk friends in the US have covid. They'd been mostly isolated, but forced into an apartment recently because their vehicle died on the way to an RV camp (it was their house). They've had their Johnson and Johnson vaccine 3 weeks ago so fingers crossed it was enough to avoid hospitalisation and death, and making their underlying conditions worse. This is why I'm thankful for the lockdowns here, it at least limited community spread.

I hope your friends make it through margo.  The US "lockdown" is a joke.  Fingers crossed it doesn't progress to serious illness - hopefully the vaccine will be effective for them.

They definitely have symptoms, loss of smell and fatigue. But fingers and toes crossed they improve quickly! They had an adventure finding groceries, Walmart is the only place delivering where they live at the moment.

Glad your son has no symptoms so far @durhamlad.

Our son started feeling unwell on Tuesday, no high temp but it felt like it (checked with 2 thermometers) so he booked a test for Wednesday and he walked down to the test centre for an 8:30 test. He called us at 8 saying that it came back positive.  He had a bad night, vomiting and feeling poorly, now got the cough, although still no raised temperature.

Oh no. Keeping my fingers crossed he recovers quickly. Does he have an O2 monitor?

My friends still have a fever, one has cardiomyopathy and can feel the irregular heartbeat from it getting worse. I really hope they stay out of the hospital, but obviously they have to go in if needed. They have friends in the hospital back in NY, but at least they are out of the ICU. (not the people they caught it from as they left weeks before they came down with it, but obviously they want people they love to be well) *sigh* This is no where near over and people need to keep remembering they are protecting others by wearing masks and meeting outdoors.

Oh durhamlad!  I’m so bummed.  Thankfully he’s been isolating and protecting those who would have come in contact with him otherwise. You should be very proud.

And absolutely, let’s hope this is a minor case with no lasting effects. Keep us posted.

Thanks for your thoughts folks, they are much appreciated.

Shortly as his alert went off on Saturday warning him he'd been in contact with Covid I walked over and left an infrared thermometer (point and shoot) and an oximeter in his porch, then talked him through how to use them while looking through his window and talking on the phone.

Since he feels hot but has a normal temperature he is doubting the accuracy of the point and shoot thermometer so this morning after we took over some supplies I also left a much older digital thermometer.  He was in bed so later in the day I texted him to let him know about the thermometer and told him that he needed to press the button until it beeped then stick it up his backside until it beeps again.  (After all, it is April 1st)

I waited for a few seconds then told him under his tongue or in his armpit also works, and he replied that he was so out of it he would have followed  my instructions.

He says that the dioralyte we left has had an immediate positive effect and he feels better already. (We figured that vomiting was going to cause him to be dehydrated )

On Friday our son's O2 level dropped to 92% using the oximeter I had given him to use plus he got chest pains so he called 999 and the crew decided he need to go to hospital. Since then he has got worse with his stats crashing today requiring him to be put on oxygen. Chest x-ray had already confirmed inflation of the lungs which may also include pneumonia as well as Covid infiltration.

Because his stats are swinging up and down they have decided to move him to HDU (High Dependency Unit) and put him on a CPAP machine. Before that they are going to do a scan of his chest and abdomen. We talked with the nurse who has been looking after him who assured us that it was precautionary and that in HDU he would be getting one on one care.

It's tough not being able to do anything so thank you all for listening. We are in self isolation until Wednesday morning, because we had been in close contact 8 days ago, so I can't even go walking in the hills and on the moor behind our house, plus we have been having such beautiful weather.

So I hand washed the car  :(

Oh durhamlad!  The not being able to help or do anything is the absolute worst!!!  I am so so sorry that he’s taken a turn. Please keep us updated!  Sending prayers, light, and love.

Thankfully he'll have one-on-one care and 02 now. Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
