I am so entirely in agreement. I hate this government more than I can even convey. There should have been guaranteed full pay sick time for every person who has to isolate for potential covid symptoms or exposure from the beginning. The US is where it is because they don't even *have* sick time in most roles, along with the sheer incompetence from the top.

But going to a grocery store when you have covid? They still have community volunteers to help people who are isolating with tasks like medication pick up and grocery delivery.

I mean, Cummings set the precedent for people keeping their jobs after breaking the covid laws. She should definitely have resigned/been removed as well.

Except Cummings didn't have covid, he didn't use public transport and he wasn't elected. What makes it worse than that, is the MP who knew she had covid and decided to go on public tranpost to travel from London to Glasgow, had called for Cummings to resign, yet thinks she shouldn't have to.

I agree that they both should go, as should Corbyn, with this photo of him at dinner party of 8, when 6 was the rule,

although he has been suspended from the Labour party, but for something else.

And Tony Blair should be fined too.

Tony Blair can go crawl in a hole.  I haven't forgiven him for joining the coalition with Bush Jr.

And yet, he's gone on to make something of himself.  Why isn't he in a hole?
I think he's pretty roundly disliked by everyone.  Even when he says things that make sense, nobody listens.  If I ever see him in public I'm going to throw my shoes at him.

There's nothing worse than a Christian who thinks God told him to start a war.

And then I'll buy you another pair of shoes.  And if you choose to throw those at him, too, I won't even be offended.

So.... Christmas. Seems crazy to allow a break and let people collect together in bubbles or whatever.  It seems like they're willing to have another spike and deaths for the sake of Christmas. Though, I guess they're counteracting it with talking about the improvements in mental health and wellbeing. Or they're just not wanting people to do whatever because it will mean that when they have to lockdown (again) in January ,people won't listen at all.
Hmmm...

Secondary schools seem to be driving infections right now :( A friend in Milton Keynes was working in one and said they were getting reports of new cases among students and staff every hour last week, so the entire school is closed now along with another in the area.

It is absolutely irresponsible to say gatherings at xmas are fine. Perhaps one relative visiting someone otherwise isolated, sure, they need that connection. But indoor celebrations with multiple families? No way.

At this point, I think people are just going to do what they want to do, regardless of rules.

We are not getting together with family at Christmas as we’ve decided that’s what’s best for all of us.

But there are a lot of people that will gather regardless of the rules. Most people I know in real life are not getting together.

But just look at the boards here and on Facebook with the number of people who will do what they want.  A huge number of people will do what they want.  Simple as.

I can see where they are coming from with easing Christmas lockdown rules, and at least all 4 countries have agreed to the exact same rules.  Personally we won't be meeting up with family like we usually do, with one possible exception.  My wife's sister lives alone and her oldest son and family live close by but every other year they drive to Mull at Christmas to stay with his wife's family. This is the year they would normally be in Mull, and her other son and wife live in California so won't be visiting like they usually do.

We don't intend to leave her alone over Christmas week and will drive up to visit her if in fact she would otherwise be alone.  She has been super cautious throughout the pandemic, having had open heart surgery in February, just one year after becoming a widow.

We've been shielding the whole time so Christmas for us will just be like any other day except (hopefully) with better food!  ;D

I hope that those people who are taking Covid seriously will in some way counteract those who will just do as they please, regardless.
