Question: Express mail/expedite ballot to the US
« on: October 04, 2020, 02:11:51 PM »
Hiya,

I need to return my ballot. Given the chicanery going on with the US postal system, I’d prefer to send it via Fed Ex or similar. However, due to the pandemic, I have no idea how to do this as I would have normally done it through the office and that’s no longer an option. I can’t find any of those stores over here, like Kinkos, where you can just go in and do it. Do they exist here? (I’m in London and still can’t find one). I don’t have an account with any of them and thus have no air bills, etc.

Alternatively, do you guys think if I went to the post office here and paid for some sort of expedited shipping it would get there quicker (ie, would the USPS expedite it once it arrives there?)?  I sent my tax return back in May that way and it got there quickly.

Thanks!

I’ve used Parcel Monkey many times.  You can put in your address, the desistination, and that it’s a letter.  Usually less than £20 and they collect from your home.

This year I used an app called Genius Fax.  99p per page so fair price (4 pages for mine).  And my state, Florida let’s you know when it’s been received AND when it’s been counted!

I'm planning on sending mine via normal mail and checking with the state to be sure it has been received.   Arizona has the facility to confirm if it has been received.
For advice from people with specialist knowledge, I would contact the Democrats Abroad.  They'll have a good answer for you.

I gave them some money this year since it's the best way for people living out of the country to donate to political parties.  Last election I gave some money to Hillary and it was a problem because of regulations  about foreign campaign donations.  She might have even been forced to give it back.

Thanks guys!

KFdancer, never heard of that—perfect. That’s what I’m going to do. So Florida allows faxed ballots? That’s great! I’m Virginia and they don’t allow  it. They emailed the ballot to me though.

Jimbocz, I applied for the ballot via Dems Abroad. Great resource. I gave to Hillary, too, but I was still in America back then.

I can’t wait to get the ballot in.

I sent my ballot on 23 September via Royal Mail with tracking and signed for. It arrived yesterday (19 October). :o
My state does not allow emailed or faxed ballots, so snail mail it was.

My ballot sat with the post office for ten days before it even moved to Heathrow (and then to Paris?!), so if anybody out there is planning to use Royal Mail for their ballot, don’t!
