I'm a US citizen but have been granted settled status under the EU Settlement scheme. Now, I have a residence card but that card will no longer be valid once 2021 comes. As a US Citizen, I am able to use the E gates, but what happens if I arrive at an airport where there are no egates or I arrive with my family?

Will the border guard take the time to verify my status using the online service? Since the letter I received from the Home Office, is ironically, not proof (strange) of my settled status, how will go about proving it to her/him?

Thanks for the input!

I should probably know this, but why would your card no longer be valid after 2021?
I'm in the same boat you are.   My residence card actually has the words "Indefinite Leave to Remain" written on it if that makes any difference.
Seems like all the Europeans living here face an even worse problems since they don't even have a card.  Just a promise from Theresa May, whatever that's worth.

By the way, I'm going to hijack the heck out of your thread and say that my wife made me a really cool passport holder out of cork that we bought in Porto.  It's got a little pocket for my BRP card as well, so if they take it away I will be angry.

They already have the digital system for the EU verification set up. But it is riddled with problems, like everything the home office does. I would assume the EGates are going to have to be integrated with that in some way, otherwise every EU resident would have to go through the lines.

She could make a mint off those. If US passports ever become useable again.

Because that's what the Home Office has decided? I'm not sure, mine says "Family member of the EEA National" on it.

Perhaps the EUSS RC is the new way to go?
