H& R Block Expat Services
« on: November 11, 2020, 07:02:50 PM »
Hello everyone!

I hope y'all are staying safe and sane during these crazy times.

I am just getting around to filing my taxes, incredibly late, and I am wondering if anyone has ever used the H&R Block Expat service online?
I have uploaded most of my information but I am suddenly very leary of paying them.
What if its a scam?

If anyone has every used them/heard of them please let me know
Likewise if you know of a better and easier service please let a girl know!

Thanks for you r time!
Amanda

People have used them. What’s the cost?  How complicated is your circumstance?

Its not at all complicated. (I don't think)
Moved over in 2018 and had my taxes done previously in Texas.
Its just myself and my husband and we definitely dont earn over 80k a year.
The cost is around $259

Thank you for responding. (:

Golden Rules for choosing a great tax professional when in the UK:
1. QUALIFICATIONS
Do not be shy! Ask if they are members of professional bodies in both the US and UK and if so, which ones and for how long.
2. COST
Ask what they charge!
3. COMFORT
Pick one who is dually US/UK qualified (so you know that the tax preparer is regulated in both the US and the UK) and who you feel you can get on with. This is a personal choice so call a few firms before deciding...

Thank you. Those are all excellent tips.

At that price, it doesn’t sound like a serviced return.  I’d use Tax Act instead which is about £50.
