Employment Letter for ILR - Digital Signature?
« on: December 11, 2020, 03:04:29 PM »
Hi there!

I will soon be applying for ILR, and I know what I need for my employment letter in terms of criteria. But, as I'm on furlough I don't see my boss in person, and haven't since March (I work in travel). He provided me with my employment letter when I did FLR and as that was pre-covid, it was super easy to get from him. He also wrote on each of my payslips that each were authentic and signed them.

Does anyone know if it's possible for him to electronically send me the letter and use a digital signature? And likewise with the payslips? Has anybody done this and been successful? I've not been able to find any official guidance concerning this.

Thanks so much!  :)

They are allowing some leeway with the document requirements because of Covid, so an electronic signature on the employer letter should be fine. If your employer can add a line regarding the reason for it having an electronic signature and not a wet signature, that will probably help too.

Regarding the payslips, they should not be signed anyway, so that's not an issue.

The requirements for payslips are either:
1. Official payslips printed by the company and given or mailed to you
or
2. Electronic payslips which are accompanied by a letter from the employer, on company letterhead and signed by a senior official, which verify the authenticity of each payslip.

Most people have their employer include the payslip verification as part of the mandatory employer letter, so that they only need to provide 1 letter and not 2 separate ones.

Hijacking this post to ask what sort of information should be in the epayslip verification letter- for example, if you have an epayslip from Jun-Dec that will be used in an application (for me, it’s FLR), do they just need a one-line summary that states something along the lines of “i can verify the attached epayslips are valid and correct for Mrs/Mr ____ etc etc etc?”

Thanks!

In addition to that, the best practice is to list each payslip date and amount in the letter.
