US Citizen with FLR traveling to US for Christmas
« on: December 14, 2020, 10:42:05 PM »
Hello all,

I am a US Citizen married to a UK citizen living here in England with a FLR visa. I have tickets to fly home to the US for Christmas Dec 21-29 (my husband is not coming with). Has anyone flown to the US since lockdown ended/planning to fly to the US soon and has advice about travel health insurance? It seems UK companies won’t cover anyone going to the US since travel there is advised against. From everything I have read though, I do believe I can travel to the US since I am a citizen and return back to the UK as long as I fill out the form and self isolate for 14 days?

I may have to travel without insurance but I would feel better if I had it! Any advice would be appreciated!

I'm not trying to be funny, but my advice is don't go.  There's a reason travel is advised against and the insurance providers won't cover you for travel to the US right now.

Is it really essential travel?
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

Don't.

Select the state from the drop-down menu for the current estimates. Note "ICU beds available" numbers.

Someone in the travel section posted recently about a company that will insure. It’s not that expensive. You’ll need to search for the post.

You couldn’t pay me to get on a plane right now!!   ;D

A liitle late in the response, but my wife American Citizen flew back to USA for Christmas no issues.
Her Insurance Company Insure and Go covered her as she is American so the FCO rules did not apply, ie she has a right to travel and covered Covid.  No insurance premimums

Alternatively you can use specialised on BattleFace who cover for such issues against FCO.

She has just spoekn to her Insurance Company Insure and Go and they have added me to her cover which will allow me UK citizen to also travel due to me being a spouse...
