Am I right in assuming any references to sending passport pictures in with passport after attending biometrics in the USA are now all outdated?

You upload it with all your other documents before attending the biometrics appointment .

Just to say thanks everyone for advice and support, thankfully a UK visa arrived in post yesterday. As a guide to timelines for others, applied online 15 Feb, biometrics at an ASC a week later and payed for priority processing.
