Applying FLR (M) spouse visa
« on: January 12, 2021, 06:50:16 PM »
Hi there just completing the forms with my partner, a couple of questions:
1. The question "what type of visa, leave to enter or remain or other permissions do you have to be in the U.K.? On my partners entry document it says spouse so we're assuming settlement is the right answer...correct?
2. I have a child from a previous marriage who is now 24, do I have to enter all of the information about his DoB provide birth certificate etc. I would expect it only relates to dependants and I can ignore...correct?

Many thanks...there might be one or two more questions by the time this thread is done

It’s a tricky one because there are technically 2 correct answers here:

Settlement or Family

I believe most people select ‘Family’ for the visa type.

No, you only need to include children under 18.

As your son is an adult, you do not need to mention him on the application or provide any documents for him.

FLR (M) Documents, other grounds for wanting to stay in the U.K. The question do you have any other reason for wanting to stay in the U.K. Our only child is now adult, do we include any other evidence here or just select the "I do not have any other reason for wanting to stay in the UK" option?
Thanks in advance.

Ultimately, your answer to this will only be considered if your visa falls for refusal and they look to see if it can be granted under Article 8, which will usually only happen if you have a UK citizen child under 18 living in the UK.

However, if you do have any other reasons for wanting to stay in the UK, then you can list them.

What about things like:
- family members living in the UK
- your career(s)
- travel opportunities
- access to NHS treatment
etc.

Hopefully a final question, we have bank statements addressed to my partner but showing both of our names on the account. Can we use these as joint evidence documents?
