« on: February 10, 2021, 09:20:53 AM »
Wonderful news!!

Just got an email from home office telling me that my application for citizenship has been approved and that I need to wait for a letter confirming that my certificate has been issued to my local council before I can book a ceremony and apply for my British Passport!!! cant believe we have reached the end of this visa journey. We are both so thankful for the help and support that we have received from everyone here, you are a group of amazing people..

Amazing! I’m hoping to submit my app soon. How long did it take to get a decision?

We had put it from our minds as we were expecting it to take the full 6 months or more given the backlog with everything so we were very surprised to get the email yesterday morning. Just have to wait for the ceremony now.  Hope you get your approval soon.. its a wonderful feeling to know we are done!

Congrats again!

Keep us updated on ceremonies/lockdown issues and wait times for passports!

I was also expecting the full six months before I'd hear anything (and have been stressing out because my US passport will expire shortly after that). I didn't want to be in a situation where I was without ANY valid passport, so thank you for that flicker of hope. I also can't wait to hear about your ceremony scheduling and your UK passport application process/timeline.

We applied a few days after Kezzie62 and we had our biometrics mid-December. Our approval just came through today (hooray!), so depending on where you count from, about 4 and a half months from the application, and 3 and a half from biometrics. :)

Thanks! We'll post another update once we get the information through from the council. It seems where we are are offering virtual ceremonies so that might be an interesting one!

We're so grateful for all the help we've had from this forum along the way :)
