Good to know. But how did you get your UK passport?? I thought I had to wait until my citizenship/naturalisation was complete (ceremony and all) before I could even apply for a UK passport or register to vote, for that matter.

It’s my husband that is the US citizen (soon to be UK citizen) he can vote here in Scotland as anyone with ILR can vote in Scottish elections just not General Elections..
Online Application Spouse Visa - 27 Jan 2015
Visa Received - 16 Feb 2015
FLR(M) In-Person  (Approved)- 4 Jan 2018
ILR (M) Approval - 23 Oct 2020
AN (Naturalisation) - 28 Oct 2020
AN (Naturalisation) APPROVED!!!!! - 10 Feb 2021
Citizenship ceremony - 10 June 2021

Ah! That explains it. Well, I wish we were in Scotland, but no such luck. I absolutely adore Scotland!

It’s the same in Wales too! My citizenship app is still pending but I’m registered to vote in the Welsh elections via my ILR.

Well I'm bummed out. I'm not eligible in England, although I keep on trying!

I know--I'm in the home stretch now, but I think I have to register to vote within the next few weeks. I'm contacting my council and the election board to see what the official answer is. Maybe they are making exceptions about registering because of citizenship delays caused by the pandemic. It doesn't hurt to ask, right?

I just received my letter (via email) confirming that my application has been successful. Woo hoo!

However, they screwed up and referred to me as MRS despite the fact that I do not use that title (nor have I ever used that title). Does that matter? If so, how/who do I contact to make the correction?

Also, have any of you booked your citizenship ceremonies yet?

Only just seen this - no, nothing yet, no word from the council. I'm not sure how long we should leave it until we contact someone... a month, a year ... never?! :)

They seem to be discouraging contact (surprise surprise), and it looks like it could be up to three months from receiving the email. I am SOL in terms of voting (I did hear back from my council, and it's a no go for me since I'm from the US and I'm in England) and my UK passport until the ceremony.

I'll just send off my US passport for renewal to make sure I have at least I have ONE valid passport.

From the Gov.uk website:
Do not book a ceremony until you’ve received your invitation letter. Because of coronavirus, it can take up to 3 months from being told your application was successful to get your letter.

And this from my council:
Please note that it can take three to four months from being approved for citizenship to getting a Home Office Invitation letter. Please do not contact us to book a ceremony until you have received your Home Office Invitation Letter.

If after three months of being approved you have still not had a Home Office Invitation Letter, feel free to contact us.

Our letter was dated 29th March 2021 so its taken 14 days to reach us as it is sent 2nd class mail!!!

That is excellent news and very encouraging, although the postal aspect isn't terribly impressive. You'd think for something as important as this they might use a more efficient method of contact, hm?

Ours was dated the 10th April and arrived yesterday, so just a week or so on that one (!) - we'll try to arrange things this week. I'm hoping this helps you with your timeline as well :) - and, after our journey over the last six years or so has revolved so heavily around everything being paper, it's nice to have a piece of paper to affirm this (nice though emails are :) )
