jfkimberly just had a look at the memberships for TaxAct (the software you use? https://www.taxact.com/?version=8de4d3a1-9153-48f3-9c71-dfd83ee83dfc) and it looks like I would have to pay $44 for the membership I need (homeowner in the U.K.). I’m a bit stumped on what I should do: mail or e file. I’ll await confirmation from yourself regarding whether you were able to enter NRA on taxact.

Yup.  NRA for a non-US person spouse, filed Married Filing Separately, claimed my first stimulus rebate because I never received it, reported my income including interest, and e-filed using TaxAct for free.  I have confirmed on the IRS website ("Where's My Refund" tool) that my tax return has been received and it's being processed.  This is my first time using TaxAct, and I found it reasonably straightforward.

Oh, I see... you are a homeowner.  Our house is solely in my husband's name, so I'm not a homeowner.  Maybe that's the difference.

Ooh this is encouraging. Taxact wasn't playing nice for me last year so I used one of the free programs, but hopefully I'll be able to efile with them again.
