Time for UK bank to cash US Stimulus Cheque

Sorry if its been asked before, I have looked but can't find - but can you please tell me how long it took for the UK bank to clear the US stimulus cheques please?

Also, I've been married to hubby for 17 years now, will I get a stimulus payment or just hubby?

Thanks for replies, I sent cheque to Halifax on 3rd by signed delivery, they received it on the 4th and after calling them today they are saying I should have sent a form in and it could take from six to ten weeks................will go into bank on Monday and see what they are playing at!

There is only 1 payment per household I believe so don’t expect a stimulus cheque in your own name.  Couples filing as married get double what a person filing as single or married filed separately will get.

I believe there are two options for cashing a US check in the UK (or at least this is what I was told in Scotland). One is a negotiated exchange rate and one is the "collection" rate.   I think the "collection" gets you a better exchange rate () but takes longer. The negotiated  option lets you use the money in a few days, even before the check clears the US bank.

I’ve deposited two (non stimulus) IS checks this year. One took 7 weeks. The other had the money showing in my account within 3-4 days.

The one that took a long time was for a house deposit, so rather large sum! From stocks I had sold. The one that took a shorter time was a personal cheque from my mother.

Thanks for the replies - have decided after getting nowhere on the phone, will go to bank tomorrow with copies of cheques sent and hope we get somewhere.

I just want to know that they are in the system and it does not matter how long they take to clear, just need to know all is ok.
