IRS Section 9021 & EIP Topic A & J
« on: March 20, 2021, 11:24:33 AM »
My 2020 tax return had be languishing in a 'processing' state since February 12th and this morning I noticed an approval. The strange thing is the IRS say that I will receive an additional $300, which is all to do with the Recovery Rebate Credit, (they quote Section 9021 & EIP Topic A & J). As I did not initially receive the $1,200 last Spring, I, or rather TaxAct added $1,200 to 1040 line 30, which I believe is correct. I physically received stimulus 2.0, ($600). Looking at 9021, it shows as a math error, although I can't figure out why I should get an additional $300. I file MFJ and spouse has an ITIN & no dependants to claim, so this can't be a part of the equation.

Has anyone else received this additional payment, or maybe knows why I got it? The IRS say I will receive a letter, but will may takes a few weeks to get here.
