ILR requirements pretty much same as FLR M?
« on: May 23, 2021, 08:07:21 PM »
Good evening,

My FLR M extension was recently approved — thanks for all your help!!

Are the ILR requirements pretty much the same? I believe the financial requirements again have to cover at least six months before application submission, but the savings don’t have to be multiplied by 2.5?

Thanks,

The financial categories have the same requirements but you're right, the 16k plus 18.6k does not need to be multiplied by 2.5.
There is no IHS to pay and you need to have passed the life in the UK test.

Thanks for the speedy reply! When is the Life in the UK test supposed to be taken/passed?

You need to have passed it before applying for ILR. It doesn't expire so it's never too early to get it out of the way. The questions can be tricky, we recommend reading the book and sitting practice tests (there are many available online)until you are consistently passing.

To double check, does the salaried income from the same employer also still have to cover at least six months?

Yes - for employment income, it’s the same requirement for ILR as all the other visas you have applied for.

If you are Category A and have been with the same employer for at least 6 months (and earning at least £18,600 for all of that time), you need to provide:
- 6 full months of payslips
- 6 full months of bank statements
- employer letter
Optional but recommended:
- latest P60
- job contract

I don't know if it is relevant for you (it certainly wasn't for me!), but the savings amount for Category D, cash savings, is 'only' £34,600, as opposed to FLR(M)'s £62,500.  It's a bit less paperwork if it applies to you.
9/1/2013 - "fiancée" (marriage) visa issued
4/6/2013 - married (certificate issued same-day)
5/6/2013 - FLR(M)#1 in person -- approved!
8/1/2016 - FLR(M)#2 by post -- approved!
8/5/2018 - ILR in person -- approved!
22/11/2018 - Citizenship (online, with NDRS+JCAP) -- approved!
14/12/2018 - I became a British citizen.  :)

You have to kind of reverse engineer their numbers as it's really confusing the way they illustrate it but it's here.

Basically it's 18.6k plus 16k. As opposed to 18.6k + (2.5x 16K) as there are no more years to cover. (The 2.5 equates to the length of the visa the savings has to cover, in years)

Oh my geez I didnt even know this! I was about to open a savings account and scrounge up the 60K+ and just leave it there until I apply for ILR in May, this is such amazing news!

Kind of hijacking this thread for a question, I assume I can keep the money in a US bank and just provide those statements as proof of funds? Will I need a letter or anything?

You will need six FULL months of bank statements showing thatthe balance was never below the equivalent of £34,600 in thesix months before you apply.  Be careful of exchange rate changes if the fundsare in USD.
