Hi
I’m going to apply for my wife’s spouse visa (ILR) next month (July 2021) and I’m her sponsor.
I’m a sole Director of a specified ltd company, but based on my Sept 2019-2020 tax returns I don’t meet the financial requirement of 18,600. I have neither a PAYE system nor payslips produced.

However I do meet the financial requirement if I apply as self employed through the self assessment of 6 April 2020 -  5 April 2021

My question is can I apply as self employed (similar to the sole trader) without using the Director of specified ltd company route? This way I can easily meet the financial requirement.

Will appreciate your valuable guidance.

Welcome to the forum!
I don't know enough about the self employment categories to help you except to say have you looked at category G, average of the last 2 years?
Hopefully someone else will be able to help you more but if not, try having a word with Medivisas in London. They'll be able to advise.
