Visa Extension - question re original v copy docs
« on: August 16, 2021, 01:44:51 PM »
Hello all

You all very kindly helped me back in 2019 with my partner's first FLR(M) visa application - thank you.

This will expire on 16 October 2021, and we are now applying for an extension, using the online form. Things seem very familiar, but I note the guidance this time says:

Providing your documents

You must provide your documents after you submit your application, these can be originals or copies. Any passports provided must be originals.

I noted as I went through that our marriage certificate can be a copy, and my passport could be a copy (but not my partner's USA passport). However last time I had to go to the bank to get six months' worth of bank statements stamped and signed, since these were online only. Has this requirement changed at all? If not, I am off to visit the high street again. Evidence of joint occupation at this address we can do with original docs.

Thanks again for your patience and help with these applications.

Mary

Yes, the bank statements still need to be original or stamped on every page by the bank.

Hello - many thanks for your help to date.

I applied for the extension yesterday, and paid the various fees, but I wasn't able to get a local biometric appointment until 21 September. Does this have a knock-on effect on the supporting documents, or does the clock stop when I pay the application fee? (My employer's letter is dated 16 August, for example, and I'll have a September bank statement by 21 Sept, which isn't in my current pack of supporting documents).

Thanks again.

The clock stops with the date of your application. All the documents should be dated before that date and the financial evidence must be dated within the 28 days before it.

Good luck!

Depending on how the payslips are actually dated (ie a range vs just a pay-date) you might need to include January as well. If you have it, it's best just to include it.

I'd include the Homeserve bill but not the Lloyds statement for that month, just so it's clear that you have 3 sources.

If you have a mortgage, you will need to include the most recent mortgage statement for the accommodation evidence.

Any divorces or children's evidence to include?

Apologies for the delay in replying - I had a big family emergency - but am now home and just in time to get these papers uploaded before the biometric appt on 21 Sept!

No mortgage, divorces or children. Can definitely include the January payslip - thank you!

Closer inspection demonstrates that I haven't got the Aug 19 Lloyds bank statement. My proposed documents to demonstrate residence are therefore slightly irregular in date for 2019 but I hope this suffices:

1.   Berkshire Independent Hospital letter to spouse – 3 August 2019
1.   TV licence for me – 9 Sept 2019 (couldn’t find an Aug letter - have various documents from July 2019 if better)
2.   British Gas Homeserve Bill in joint names – 25 Oct 2019 (don’t have a Dec 19 bill)
3.   Lloyds Bank statement in joint names – 3 Apr 20
4.   Lloyds Bank statement in joint names – 3 Aug 20
5.   Lloyds Bank statement in joint names – 31 Dec 20
6.   Lloyds Bank statement in joint names – 30 Apr 21
7.   Council Tax Bill in joint names – 19 August 21

Really appreciate your support here in the Forum - it's a stressful business, even third time around.
