Hello all. I know that I (almost) never post these days... but I'm hoping someone has some recent experience with processing timelines for a skilled worker visa.
I applied for a new "Skilled Worker" visa from inside the UK (switching jobs) on 12 August 2021. The stated timeline is "usually within 8 weeks" which would take me to 7 October 2021. I am really keen to start the job within hours of approval.
Had anyone had a recent experience with this visa? If so, can you share your experience with the timeline?
My wee rant about the situation is this: Frustratingly, my new employer had me use a contract immigration specialist, which means I only made my application 7 weeks before the new job was
meant to begin (1 October) and I am now twiddling my thumbs as I can't start until the visa comes through -- which means someone else will have to cover the lectures I was meant to be giving w/c 11 October. (Arrggg!!) Had it all been left to me, I would have made my application in July when I was first offered the lectureship.
Thankfully, this will be my last visa before IRL then citizenship. After 20 years, I'm tired of giving the Home Office money. (No, I couldn't have done IRL sooner. Long story, just trust me on this.)
