Lowest payslip amount for an hourly employee
« on: October 06, 2021, 04:43:39 PM »
Hi,

I just have a quick question about my upcoming flr application and I'm wondering if anyone can help.

I'm an hourly employee and I earn about £21k/year.

I've missed a few days this month by being sick(and I don't receive sick pay) and I'm worried that my pay for this month will be below £1,550. Will my earnings be calculated solely by this month or will it take the average over a 6 month period because I'm an hourly employee?

Thanks.

If you are on an hourly wage (you are non-salaried), then the £1550 per month calculation does not apply to you, as the calculation is different for non-salaried employees and they will only look at your average income over the last 6 months.

In your case, your income will be calculated as follows:
- Add up all 6 months of gross payslips (before tax)
- Divide total by 6 to get average monthly income
- Multiply total by 12 to get average annual income
- As long as the total is at least £18,600 you will meet the requirement.

If however, you had a fixed annual salary instead of being paid hourly they would instead take the lowest payslip from the last 6 months and multiply it by 12… which is where the £1550 comes from (£1550 x 12 = £18,600)
