ILR Application Advice
« on: November 07, 2021, 11:03:28 PM »
Hi All!

A pleasure to be back in the forums in the build-up to ILR!

My first query is just around checking timings for applications...

The first entry into the UK (1st visa) - 11/12/2016
The second visa was granted - 25/07/2019
BRP expires 22/02/2022

Am I correct in thinking the application for ILR can be submitted any time between 25/11/2021 and 22/02/2022?

For the last visa we were also able to get an in-person appointment for a quicker decision, I assume this is still available for current applications?

As always, appreciate all advice & input!

Not quite... the earliest you can apply is 28 days before you reach 5 years in the UK... you will reach 5 years on 11th December 2021, so you can apply as early as 13th November 2021.

So, your window to submit the online application is:

13/11/2021 to 22/02/2022.

It is available, but due to Covid restrictions, they are limiting the number of applicants per day who can purchase it... so it may or may not be available to purchase when you try to submit your application. If it is not available, I would keep checking on different days to see if it comes up as an option.

Also, the service has changed slightly since your last visa:
- It's now called Super Priority Service
- It no longer gives an immediate decision... instead, it's a 24-hour service, so you should get the decision by the end of the next working day
- It now costs £800 (used to be £610)

Hi All,

I'm back again after dedicating a few weeks to collecting documents and filling out forms...with a few follow-up questions...

1) I understand the requirements regarding the number of correspondence items needed, but just want to check: can you be negatively impacted for submitting more than the 6 items?

2) So far I have the following correspondence items and timeline:
Oct-19 - Joint - Nationwide Bank letter
Mar-20 - Individuals - Travel Insurance letters for both
Aug-20 - Individuals - Car Insurance letter & DVLA letter
Jan-21 - Joint - Nationwide Bank letter
Jun-21 - Joint - Nationwide Bank letter
Nov-21 - Joint - Nationwide Bank letter

Are these sources okay or do we need more variety of sources?

3) Council tax evidence - This year we didn't get a postal bill but we have an online account that offers an "account summary print out" - is this okay for this requirement?

4) I vaguely remember that certain documents have to be dated within 28 days of the application...is this within 28 days from the date of payment? What documents does this specifically relate to?

5) Signed employment contract - my contract is signed electronically via a portal - is this sufficient? It simply says "signed and dated electronically".

6) In our previous visa application when stating "Not the same amount continuously, above the financial requirement amount" for the financial requirement, I needed to provide 12 months payslips, etc, this time with the same option it's only 6 months - is this correct?

Thanks in advance! just checking back daily now waiting for a super-priority service option to open up...

You should send no more than 7 documents in each name (7 rather than 6 so that you cover both the beginning and the end of the 2.5-year period).

The sources are fine, as you have the required 3 sources you need (bank, DVLA, insurance).

However, you should cover a full 2.5 years, so that means 7 documents in total:
May 2019
Oct 2019
Mar 2020
Aug 2020
Jan 2021
June 2021
Nov 2021

That should be fine.

It’s 28 days before the date you submit and pay for the visa application.

The only documents that must be dated within the 28 days are the financial documents, namely:
- latest payslip
- latest bank statement
- employer letter

5) Signed employment contract - my contract is signed electronically via a portal - is this sufficient? It simply says "signed and dated electronically".

Yes, that’s fine. The job contract is only optional and not required so there is no guidance on the format it should be in.

Are you applying under Category A or B?

If you’re Category A (earning more than £18,600 with the same employer for more than 6 months), you should only provide 6 months of statements, regardless of what the application tells you.

In the past, it would incorrectly tell you to send 12 months if you ticked the ‘not the same amount continuously, above the requirement amount’… but it sounds like they may have now fixed that bug in the application so that it correctly tells you to send 6 months.

If you haven’t been doing it already, your best bet is to try at midnight when they release the new super priority slots for the day.

Thanks @ksand24, the advice on checking at midnight really paid off!

Thank you for the other guidance too! After spending some time uploading documents online now, I have a question on the ID (passports etc) - do these have to be uploaded as certified copies with originals taken on the day? I vaguely remember getting certified copies of passports before... if so, would the old certified copies still work again? I'm sure I still have them somewhere.

Thanks in advance!

No, you simply scan each page of the passport(s) and upload the resulting file to the UKVCAS website.

Nothing needs to be certified.

The applicant's passport(s) scan goes in the Application Documents section and the sponsor's UK passport scan goes in the Proof of Identity/Travel History section along with the applicant's BRP scan.
