Howdy!
« on: November 09, 2021, 05:52:38 AM »
Hey, everyone! I'm ashtober.
I'm an American in nursing school in my early twenties, and I graduate this spring. My longtime dream is to move to England, and I plan to start my NMC application and Healthcare worker visa application as soon as I graduate. I know the UK needs nurses, and I hope I can use this to my advantage to find a job and my new home (though that's not why I became a nurse, of course).
My reason for moving probably seems silly, but it's for someone special. My boyfriend of five years is from the UK. I've built a deep connection with not only him but his family and friends there, and we're hoping I can get over there permanently this time within a year or a year and a half after I graduate (though I'm willing to wait longer, if the process takes longer).
I originally found this forum after it was reccommended to me on an immigration reddit. I'm hoping to find some advice here and ask some questions, especially from nurses or those who moved with skilled worker visas, but I'm more excited to meet and make friends in the same situation or experience with this situation.

(EDIT: More info on my situation here; https://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=99795.0 anything helps, especially from those with UK nursing experience!)

Good luck, and don't think that moving to the UK to be with someone you love is silly.  That's probably the #1 reason!

Can confirm.  I never dreamed I would emigrate from the US, ever.  But, here I am, 10 years after discovering my imaginary man really exists, a dual USC/UKC living in Wales.

Hi and welcome!

I moved here back in the 80's to follow a holiday romance... and am still here 30+ years later due to being a serial monogamist!  [smiley=laugh4.gif]
