Visa stamp
« on: November 09, 2021, 09:11:56 PM »
I'm not sure how this never came up with my wife and I. Tldr I've been in the UK for 2 years and we are getting ready to apply for the renewal. My wife was looking at my passport and noticed the vignette wasnt stamped amd asked me about it. I told her that I showed the attendant the vignette when I was entering the UK the first time amd was directed to use a machine. Apparently this is wrong. I still collected my BRP, applied and was given a national insurance number, had several jobs and this hasn't come up as an issue.
Should I include a note about this and perhaps flight information and other evidence towards when I entered? Is there someone i can can about this? I honestly just thought thatbwas hownit was done as an employee at the airport directed me to do what I did andnindidnt question it cause i just wanted to get to my wife and collect my cat.

Thanks all.

I'm in the same situation. Around that time there was supposedly some new guidance that they didn't stamp anymore or something. I went to the agent and she just checked out all of my details and still didn't stamp it.

Yes, apparently they said they were no longer stamping and the records were supposed to be kept in electronic form.

Being sceptical of this, we advised everyone at the time to try as hard as they could to get a stamp if possible and if it was refused, to at least keep their boarding passes as evidence of the date of arrival.

It may be that the electronic records are in place however I would include any other evidence that you have of arrival date, to be on the safe side.

Hello!  Thank you for the info. I'm glad that this didn't turn out to be a big thing. :)

I entered the country fairly recently (July) and was told the same thing - no need to stamp the passport anymore.  I checked with three different officers at passport control and was assured that they didn't do that anymore.

When I went to pick up my  BRP the postmaster was reluctant to give it to me because he was still under the impression that he needed to see a stamped page in the passport.  He came around, but it was stressful to say the least.  The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, apparently even years into this new policy.

I arrived June 2019 and am in the same situation.  I saved my boarding pass and baggage claim ticket and plan to include them in my visa application.  I'm not sure how to explain it though.  I assume there's a section in the application to supply any additional information.
