Not to highjack but seeing as that’s what we do….

@jimbocz my kids want a kite.  Any recommendations?  Let me find what they did have for a few years. It was great.

For really small kids, a single line kite is good.  They totally love controlling something that is so high up in the sky.  Just make sure that the end of the line is actually tied to the plastic bobbin as some aren't.  Also, you can get a bit of rope and loop it around the kid's waist and through the hole in the bobbin because kids will certainly let go.  Here's a good one: https://www.dodax.co.uk/en-gb/toys-baby/stunt-kites/hq-invento-hq-invento-drachen-pocket-sled-rainbow-dp6FT3O3OVVN7/?offerId=08233f65ada74c084a03923fa003897d&gclid=CjwKCAiA4veMBhAMEiwAU4XRr3zxli_arvaMiTZS9h8lAgjVfbP8xdAp6mUrZYwE3y-43GxQj7I01RoCl3IQAvD_BwE or google "ready sleddy go"

The next step up would be a 2 line kite that you can control as it flies around.  Maybe for a 7 year old, or your husband.

HQ is a good brand, get handles and not a bar.  Or here's another one:

How about a wind chime?  I recently bought this one for my wife to have inside because out neighbours are Karens:  https://www.gaiachimes.co.uk/koshi-chime-melody-aqua-water?gclid=CjwKCAiA4veMBhAMEiwAU4XRryR-S4QsWMF1Mk9NmJdfVb4cnK9J1YX0e9JxZPVDugTSO5c18nQCeRoCrwkQAvD_BwE  It sounds amazingly good but would fall apart in the rain.  Not much wind inside though, so it only makes noise when you hit it...

just got this cheeseboard at £5. bargain. Nearly ordered one for myself LOL.

Unfortunately, I'll have to take it with me but it was either this or pay literally 2 - 3 x the price + shipping (while this was free shipping). At least if it goes missing, it was only a fiver!

Thanks!  Got it for my husband!  Love it!

This also made me laugh hahaha

YAY! glad I could give back hahaha it made me smile. I originally wanted the one they did where it was a log with an axe for the knife but that is SUPER discontinued. Couldn't even get it on ebay. Gutted as I wanted it for myself. This one I put one in the cart for myself and removed it about 3 times hahaha. Secretly hoping I end up with my own gift now LOL

The gift I've got now is (about $10-15 under budget but might go slightly over in the end):

- That cheeseboard (for a FIVER! still shocked LOL)
- Will be making the resin bottle top thing that holds 2 glasses
- got a fun/easy card game called "Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza" (it has cheese in the name and functions as something to do while consuming said cheese and also something we can play together on the day - love including an easy board game in my swap gift).

What I am planning still to get:

- bottle of wine to go with it (and potentially a bottle of fancy beer or two that pair well with cheese just to give variety - we'll see)
- Potentially one of my beer glasses that I have THREE of but looks fancy and could drink wine out of it (which would be another free item right there LOL)
- Might make 2 coasters out of resin as well to go with the wine holder
- MAY bring some snacks or buy some snacks/cheese once there to go with it....may just leave it. undecided.

I tried to get the FRED wine glass that has the measurements on it for cooking, but that was £22...Could get it on ebay for half the price but that still took up more budget than I wanted so I left it unfortunately. Still open to suggestions of anything else I could stick in there for an easy win lol

Sounds like a fabulous gift that anyone would be happy to receive!!

I couldn’t handle having to buy a gift for “anyone” that isn’t a gag gift.   ;D

The default is always go with a gag gift but I like to at least have a bit of usefulness haha hard to do a gag gift ordering online as well, which doesn't help hahaha

I'm lucky, I just have a couple of neighbours and a friend to buy for who helped us a lot during Covid.

They all like booze so very easy for me!   ;D

KFD, when I click through your kite link, there is an Octopus kite that looks amazing!   :D

Haha i normally do that for inlaws but husband is adamant on charity donations only this year. I suggested a bottle of wine to go with the donation and he said "they don't need more bottles of wine!" Lol

I do respect his viewpoint (we're all well enough off, wanting for nothing and the "kids" - who are all actual adults - might want money because they're poor with budgeting, but they aren't really in need and they mostly live at home and pay very little for rent to their parents). There's a lot of people out there far more in need than us. We have it very good and I can't complain (I'm very thankful)......but I also do love buying gifts, even if it's just something small  :-\\\\
