Child passport renewal
« on: February 02, 2022, 07:03:58 PM »
Hi

I finally book a appointment for my child to renew her US passport.
Did not expect to make the appointment today but I notice there was some avaliable days on the website and quickly clicked on it.
The appointment is in 2 weeks and I am stress out for some reason.   :o

I have a few questions....

On the day of the appointment,

I need the

DS11 form
one 2x2 photo
expired us passport
foreign birth certificate with both parents’ names

but

for Identification of Parent(s)/Guardian(s) (see page 110 of the PARG)
 Parent(s)’/ Guardian(s)’ undamaged U.S. passport (issued within last 10 years)
 Parent(s)’/ Guardian(s)’ Naturalization Certificate (issued within last 10 years)
 Parent(s)’ / Guardian(s)’ valid drivers’ license

My us passport and UK non driver ID had expired in Jan 2021.  So is it ok to bring a UK passport or can I still use the expired passport/ ID card.

Do I need to make a color photocopy of the passports?

Do I still need photos for age progression photos?  Her expired passport is a photo when she was less then a month old and she is 7 years old now.

For the Return delivery envelope – pre-paid (up to 500g) self-addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope. Is it avaliable at the embassy?  Which means I can get it on the day of the appointment at the embassy?

At the day of the appointment, do I need to take any covid test?

Thank you , thank you! [smiley=smart.gif]

Yes you need a correctly sized passport photo for your daughter.

You do not need to show any proof of a negative covid test, but you will need to wear a mask in the embassy. You are welcome to take your own lft at any time you like though.

You can purchase a courier service at the embassy. The cost for standard service was just under a tenner. Or you can bring your own special delivery envelope from Royal Mail.

Not sure about the parent passport(s) as I’ve not had this issue.

I just applied for my son's first passport. My US passport was expired (2 years out of date), and they asked if I wanted to renew mine while I was there. No idea if it's any different for a renewal

I have not been to the US London embassy for a few years.
I use to have to pay for a locker near by to store it.

Is car key, phone and a backpack allow to take along when going to the embassy now?

Thank you

I just went to the visa section of the US embassy in London yesterday for a visa interview.

You are now allowed to take in:
- mobile phones
- tablets/iPads
- carry-on size bag/backpack
- snacks
- water or juice in sealed bottles (though I was fine with a refillable drinks bottle - they made me take a drink of it when I went through security)

Thank you for all the replies  :)

Is umbrella allow to bring into the embassy?
I checked the weather and it said it will rain on the day I'm going.

Thank you
